White fencing extends across the photo's foreground before turning away to move into the background, twisting to the right in the distance before turning to extend across the width of the photo again. A few yards from the camera, part of the fence line splits off into a second line of fencing to divide the enclosed space into two. The two resulting areas are both empty except for green grass and a large tree sitting towards the photo's right edge. The inn is a white two-story building whose entrance consists of a tall, dark door framed by pilasters and flanked on neither side by pairs of tall columns. A flag has been mounted at the top of the door's frame, hanging over the front porch, while two lanterns hang on either side of the door. The columns around the door extend up to the top of the second floor to support a half-circle balcony with a simple white railing atop it. Shaded by this balcony is a smaller, simpler metal balcony affixed outside the second-floor window above the inn's front entrance. This window is rectangular in shape, as are the other second-floor windows, while the first-floor windows are rectangular with half-circles at their tops.
