The third page includes: "George S. Anderson as Chairman, and T. N. Carswell, as Secretary certify at a meeting of the Board of Trustees held May 19, 1936 the changed name of the corporation from WEST TEXAS BAPTIST SANITARIUM to HENDRICK MEMORIAL HOSPITAL." The articles are signed on May 9, 1936.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Clifton Forge, Virginia from Chas. W. Barnes, dated April 12, 1938. Barnes advises Carswell that it is unwise to undertake a return trip after the flu until he has regained all his strength. He advises that the cold spell is causing slowed business, that the snow is not damaging the crops but did kill the fruit and gardens and then dangles a few remarks regarding a business deal he made assuring that he will hold a part of it for Carswell if he is interested.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from Charlie, The Menasha Products Company, Dallas, Texas, dated April 1, 1939. Charlie expresses his appreciation for the note from Carswell dated March 30 and assures him that the "expression" was worth more than silver or gold, that if he was of any help to Carswell, he is grateful. He advises of his fervent belief in the old saying that right will win out in the end and wishes all that is good for Carswell.

A letter written to Tommy [T. N. Carswell] from Claude [Claude Lloyd], Peabody Hall, The Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, New Hampshire, dated January 7, 1932. Lloyd acknowledges his receipt of Carswell's letter and expresses his appreciation for the letter and the news about Simmons University commenting that he wonders how they get on with so little endowment in these hard times. He advises that he enclosed pictures of his daughters, Cynthia and Dorothy, and their mother, Dorothy. Lloyd explains that he is in the English Department at Exeter, now, because of the Harkness gift and that he makes twice his old salary "for half the work" that he did. Lloyd expresses his appreciation for the pecans and says he will go "all the way to Texas to get a persimmon". He sends his regards to Drs. Cooper and Olsen, Mrs. Carswell and Peggy, that he wonders much about George Paxton and Mildred Paxton.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from J. T. Haney, Secretary, Board of Trustees, Hardin-Simmons University dated March 7, 1939. Haney advises of the adoption, by the HSU board, of a resolution presented by T. N. Carswell relative to the Semi-Centennial celebration of Hardin-Simmons University, and advises Carswell of his selection, by Mr. Behrens, to serve on the Semi-Centennial Commission.

A letter written to Hon. T. N. Carswell c/o Chamber of Commerce, Abilene, Texas from Jas. P. Stinson, Abilene, Texas, dated September 1, 1938. Stinson expresses his pleasure at having heard the tribute paid to Carswell at the Lions Club, today, noting that he agreed with every word and adds more praise detailing Carswell's work through the years. He invites him to be his guest at the Rotary Club, tomorrow.

Camp notes his surprise at Carswell's retirement as Secretary of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and expresses his regret for the City's loss stating that in his opinion Carswell "as Secretary, contributed more toward the welfare of the town than any other citizen", and wishes him success in his new business.

Hewlett expresses his regret that Carswell is retiring from the Chamber of Commerce before he can route the Doll House to Abilene.

Johnson acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell and confirms that Mr. Dillingham called but that he did not happen to be in the office. He confirms that Brown-Crumer is a good house and offers to assist in having the bonds turned in under the Plan assuring Carswell that he would be very glad to do so.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Secretary, Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Abilene, Texas, from Rupert H. Johnson & Co., New York, dated June 17, 1938. Johnson replies to the letter from Carswell of June 15th and promotes his company's experience in arranging refunding programs for cities and towns. He addresses an answer for Abilene's bond issue under the assumption that the City of Abilene is able to pay interest on its debt then cites examples of other cities and the manner in which their bond issues were handled.
