Gurney advises that Crane has been taken to a city nursing home, "and unless other plans could be undertaken, will probably spend the rest of her life there". Gurney advises of not being sure if Crane could answer if Carswell does write but that Crane was delighted to have received the note from Carswell at Christmas time.

Sandefer then confides that he has arranged for the Railroad Commission to have their October statewide hearing in Abilene on the morning of the 13th which will assure them of an outstanding group of operators to be present for the memorial service.
