Hansford, Major, The Texas Defense Guard, 15th Battalion Headquarters, Ranger, Texas, dated March 14, 1941. Hansford makes a request for assistance from Carswell to obtain a hostess position for a World War Veteran's unremarried widow, Mrs. Annie Laura Cooper Jensen, formerly a Ranger resident but who has been living in Abilene "trying to educate her son at McMurry College". The reverse side includes handwritten notes and the name of Sgt. Wheeler, Battery F 189 F A.

A letter written to Major Major R.H. Hansford, 15th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, Ranger, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Major, 10th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard dated April 29, 1941. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the compliment to him by Hanford requesting that Carswell ask for the appointment for the inspection of his units.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from R. N. Grisham, Grisham & Grisham, Attorneys At Law, Eastland, Texas, dated February 24, 1941. Grisham acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell requesting the names of other county officers. Grisham informs Carswell that Rev. Jones W. Weathers will cooperate with him in this matter and that the whiskey interests have withdrawn from "this" county except for the wet drug stores.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from R. N. Grisham, Attorney at Law, Eastland, Texas, dated March 17, 1941. Grisham confirms that their representative has promised to vote for H. B. 373 but that they have had no expression from Senator Smith.

A document containing the Minutes of the Meeting of the Special Committee of the 17th District of the American Legion, Cisco, Texas - April 13, 1941. The committee was appointed by the Commander of the 17th District of the American Legion, Department of Texas, to consider the advisability of creating an organization in the Colleges and Universities of Texas for the sons and daughters of the World War Veterans.

Carswell] from Jet Peters dated August 25, 1954. Campaign card printed for Paul Brashear for State Representative with personal handwritten note advising how as a Shivers Democrat Peters helped carry Cisco for Ike saving their Tide Lands to clean up the mess in Washington, and he congratulates Carswell saying that his article in yesterday's Star Telegram "hit the spot". Peters also asks about Abilene: "How's the West Texas Chamber of Commerce? I hear its sick financially—Do get a big kick out of your Abilene's growth. I first knew the town in 1900."
