A form letter from Jeff Davis, Caradine R. Hooton and T. C. Gardner, United Texas Drys, dated February 6, 1941. The letter provides information regarding the youth march on the Capitol.

A form letter from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated May 3, 1941. Davis reports that Bill 373 is in danger of being "scuttled" by the House due to amendments attached to the bill when passed by the Senate. He expresses the importance to have citizens wire their Representative "and urge him to pass the bill in the House".

A form letter addressed to LOCAL BOARD No. 4, Dallas County, from L. M. Fellbaum, Major, Q. M. C. Policy Supervisor. Fellbaum advises of a routine inspection by a Clerical Audit Supervisor and the requirements regarding the inspection. He advises in a postcript that Mr. T. N. Carswell, Clerical Audit Supervisor, will advise the board who the Supervisor will be and when he will visit their board. Handwritten notation confirms this correspondence was sent to all Dallas County Labor Boards except No. 1.

A form letter from Walter H. McKenzie, Executive Secretary [United Texas Drys], Dallas, Texas, dated April 4, 1944. The letter reports a change in the date of the meeting of the Executive Committee scheduled for April 11 to April 18 and that the meeting will occur at the YMCA.

A form letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Walter H. McKenzie, Dallas, Texas, dated April 19, 1944. McKenzie outlines two actions taken at the Executive Committee meeting and advises of the enclosed quarterly report. McKenzie handwrites in a postscript to please answer his last two letters and requests to see Carswell at the earliest possible minute. Typewritten carbon copy bearing red COPY mark.

A form letter addressed to "Fellow Texan," from Wm. A. Blakley, Dallas, Texas, dated May 14, 1958. Blakley acknowledges that he is not an experienced politician and having been appointed to the Senate on January 15, 1957 by Governor Shivers but that he feels the need to serve to preserve our system of government which is based on the separation of powers and the sovereignty of the States. He advises of the devotion that is required from all who believe in contitutional government and requests suggestions regarding his candidacy for the United States Senate.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Francis A. Buddin, Chairman Executive Committee, United Texas Drys, dated September 1, 1943. Buddin advises Carswell of the election of Dr. W. H. McKenzie, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, as the replacement for Davis. Typewritten on church letterhead. Enclosed wtih the letter is a business card for Francis Asbury Buddin, District Superintendent, The Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, from Hattie Breeding, Dallas, Texas, dated October 12, 1953. Breeding advises that payments of $20.00 will be made weekly until the hundred and twenty five is paid. The envelope into which the letter was placed is also included in the record.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, c/o Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Allen Wight, Touchstone, Wight, Gormley & Touchstone, Dallas, Texas, dated February 7, 1941. Wight advises Carswell that there is no newspaper mat available. " I am very sorry, but I ain't pretty." The reverse side includes miscellaneous handwritten notes.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post No. 57, Abilene, Texas, from Allen Wight, Touchstone, Wight, Gormley & Touchstone, Dallas, Texas, dated January 20, 1941. Wight confirms that he is available to speak at the meeting and is "by no means a famous man" but, complying with the request by Carswell for a personal sketch, details his background: Born in 1889, a great grandson of Lyman Wight, who brought a colony to Texas in the days of the Republic; graduated Austin College in 1909 and spent 1912-1913 in Panama in the service of the Isthmian Canal Commission then engaged in building the canal; graduated the University of Texas (in Law) in 1915 and practiced law under Ellis Douthit in Sweetwater 1915-1917. "I went to the First Officers' Training Camp at Leon Springs in 1917; was commissioned captain, assigned to the Regular Army, going Overseas with the First Trench Mortar Battalion, which was engaged as Infantry at Chateau Thierry; operated two batteries of French Artillery at St. Miheil; and both operated as Infantry and used its Mortars in the Argonne. I was promoted to Major after the Armistice, remaining in the Reserve Corps until 1937." Wight called the …

Owsley offers his regrets regarding the invitation to deliver the Memorial address for Carswell's District explaining that it is due to the schedule for the exhibit of his Ball Brothers Glass Company at the State Fair in Dallas.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Betty Bray, Underwriters General Agency, Dallas, Texas, dated July 20, 1962. Traditional business apology saying they are very sorry he did not approve of the service provided, yet, coverage was provided and they must charge for this.

A letter written to Legionnaire Thos. N. Carswell, 5th Division Commander, The American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Capt. Chas. J. Maisel, Department Commander, Dallas, Texas, dated July 28, 1943. Maisel appoints Carswell as Chairman of the RULES Committee for the Department War Conference and discusses the arrangements to be made at Fort Worth for meeting rooms and bulletin boards.

A letter written to Mr. Thomas N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Captain Charlie Maisel, United States Marine Corps Southern Recruiting Division, Dallas, Texas, dated September 28, 1943. Maisel outlines the events of his year as Commander of Texas advising that it is ending and expresses his pleasure to Carswell in having served as the Chairman of the Texas delegation with such a fine Legionnaire.
