Dilworth requests that Carswell write to several of the Departments for information explaining in what form the Departments have contributed to the campaign expenses of their candidates.

He advises that Carswell rendered the Legionnaires of Texas a great service with his fight on the floor before the convention by bringing out what might happen if the publication of the proceedings were quashed.

Knickerbocker acknowledges the receipt of the letter of June 24, 1943 from Carswell and expresses his appreciation regarding Carswell's conclusion of the effective manner in which the State Guard handled the disturbances in Beaumont. Knickerbocker advises of their pride in the expedition and efficiency with which the State Guard took over both before and after Martial Law was declared.

Maisel appoints Carswell as Chairman of the RULES Committee for the Department War Conference and discusses the arrangements to be made at Fort Worth for meeting rooms and bulletin boards.

Maisel advises that the weekly membership report shows Carswell's territory behind as compared to the same date last year and explains that the Department is ahead of last year, therefore, others are carrying his load. He offers the assistance of the Department Headquarters if needed.

A letter written to Mr. T.N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from E. M. Collier, Superintendent, Hendrick Memorial Hospital dated December 31, 1943. Collier expresses his appreciation for the tie given to him by Carswell for Christmas. He advises Carswell that they miss seeing him at their church, however, they know he is doing a good job.

Betts advises Carswell regarding providing assistance to a Mrs. Currie of Sterling City, mother of a World War II veteran killed in Austrailia, in filing a claim for government benefits.

He then explains his reasons for not expressing his opinion regarding the funding of candidates is to not burden his successor.

Ellis requests the authorization to send a registrant before the Medical Advisory Board to determine his physical fitness for military service. A notation handwritten by T. N. Carswell advises of no answer as of December 18, 1943.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell ("Tommy"), Abilene, Texas, from J. D. Sandefer, Jr. ("Jake"), Breckenridge, Texas dated June 1, 1943. Sandefer expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell knowing that some of his efforts as Chairman of the Board have been appreciated. He advises of his recent effort to obtain an armed services setup on the campus, the resignation of Dr. White as president of HSU and touches on a past discussion regarding allowing the Executive Committee to frame the policies stating, again, that his chairmanship was not perfect but that he did his best. Sandefer advises that Carswell was asked after by everyone at the Easter Service and offers his sympathy regarding Truett's death [E. Truett Compere].
