After Monetization: The New Recording Landscape for Artists
Access:
Use of this item is restricted to the UNT Community
This case study examines some perspectives on the recording industry, particularly as it relates to musicians navigating the new landscape heavily impacted by digital service providers. The study begins with an investigation of digital streaming models and continues by surveying traditional record labels in light of advancements in the digital realm. The reader then encounters the company ArtistShare, which offers recording artists a chance to cultivate relationships with a close circle of patrons, in contrast to the global, less personalized reach of streaming media. The case concludes with consideration of what the industry presents to a performer committed to a musical niche.

The Collected Letters of W. B. Yeats
Access:
Use of this item is restricted to the UNT Community
The InteLex electronic edition of The Collected Letters of W. B. Yeats contains, complete, the three volumes of The Collected Letters which have appeared in print. In addition, the collection includes all of the letters from the remaining eleven (unpublished) volumes, with dating information (so far as this is known), but lacking the full annotation for which the printed volumes are justly famous. Scholars will therefore have immediate access to the primary texts of the complete edition even while the final editing and annotation for the greater part of it remains in progress. A total of 7,378 new letters are featured in the database. Of these, 88 are newly discovered letters belonging to the 1865-1904 period covered by the three published volumes. The remaining 7,290 letters belong to the 1905-1939 period which will be published in print and with full annotation in future volumes of the edition. Particular note should be made of the fact that the unannotated letters have not received final vetting (which will occur only as they are annotated prior to print publication) and are therefore published here in beta form. Some errors of transcription and of dating may therefore remain within this beta group of letters …

Crimson Rainclouds

This play is a translation of a play performed by artists of Roop Raag at Rupmahal Theater on February 20, 1966. In Crimson Rainclouds, a Manipuri play from the 1960s, an artist determined to uphold his freedom is torn between his two loves, both only too gentle in their demands, and yet deeply caring. A sensitive man, he chooses art, knowing full well that he lets them down. While Indu would like him to change his lifestyle just a little bit, for recognition and comfort, Keinatombi would be happy to give him the little care and comfort that she thinks he needs for his art. For the time being at least, Gautam would go with her. The play draws on the playwright’s interactions with Ramkinkar Baij (1906-80), the eminent sculptor, with whom she studied in Santiniketan, and who has left behind a whole suite of sculptures and paintings of Binodini. The English translation of the play appears for the first time, followed by the original, now out of print, in both the Bangla and Meitei Mayek scripts; along with stills from two productions of the play and a couple of paintings of Binodini by Ramkinkar Baij, and a self-portrait by …

As the education arm of Carnegie Hall, the Weill Music Institute (WMI) offers a diverse portfolio of music education and social impact programs. The WMI team is planning to expand a New York City-based education program, Musical Explorers, which serves students in grades K-2. While Musical Explorers could be scaled using a similar formula to Link Up, the program involves local artists and other considerations that set it apart from its sister program at WMI.
