Notes from the 1978-88 Linguistic Field Methods course at University of California, Berkeley on KokBorok with the consultant Prashanta Tripura. These are typed drafts of a KokBorok dictionary with notes and questions from the authors to each other. The drafts are organized by initial and rhyme. Preventive medicine

A report from a Lahu man receiving paramedical training in Mae Taeng, about 40km south of Huey Tat. Every weekend he would return to the village and give a talk in church on Sunday morning, telling about what he had learned during the week. He encourages the Lahu to go to doctors sooner rather than waiting until the ailment has gotten much worse. He explains that women can give birth in the hospitals if they are not well during the pregnancy. He says medical treatment is free, and that the doctor training him welcomes the Lahus to be treated there in Mae Taeng.

Spirits that bite and those that don't

Marriage and divorce

A skit performed by Lahu villagers before, during, and after a wedding between Java, a Lahu man and Naphui, a woman from the north country. They discuss killing a pig for the feast and divide the meat between the guests. Later, the couple goes to the pastor because they cannot stay married. The pastor tries to convince them to stay together, but instead the man pays 150 baht, and they are divorced.
