NaDeane Walker Anderson was born in 1921 on a family farm near Canton, Texas. She was the second youngest child of nine to Charles H. Walker and Wincie Sides Walker. In 1942, NaDeane graduated from North Texas State Teacher’s College (NTSTC) in Denton, Texas.

The clip concludes with Mattox sharing his political and social viewpoints, as well as autobiographical details that have influenced his workmanship and voting strategies. Mattox and NaDeane discuss issues and topics such as what citizens expect from elected leaders, foreign affairs in Uganda, regulating the banking industry, consumerism, deregulation of the trucking industry, keeping social security from going bankrupt, maintaining a strong military, creating jobs, veterans, presidents, implementing integrity in legislation, and teaching and inspiring the youth about the government. The interview concludes with Mattox discussing his strengths and accomplishments for an upcoming election, which also includes a portion about his opponent. NaDeane can be heard a few times throughout the interview clip.

Audio cassette from the NaDeane Walker Anderson collection. In the first clip of the audio, Congressman Jim Mattox prefaces his lecture by asking a group of people what issues interests them and allows each individual and/or reporter to respond with a variety of social, economic, and governmental topics. Mattox begins his lecture by pointing out the abundance of issues Congress faces and votes on. In the remainder of the clip, Mattox talks about balancing budgets, taxes on an individual and corporate level, government programs such as social security, and a breakdown of various approaches to taxes and government spending devised by Congress. The second half of the first clip contains low quality sound and is difficult to hear. In the second clip, the lecture by Congressman Mattox continues and sound quality improves at the 3 minute mark. Mattox discusses taxes on the energy sector, President Jimmy Carter's economic policies, status of the government's spending and inflation rates, the water supply in Dallas, and social security. At the 21:30 minute mark, a new interview begins between NaDeane and an unidentified federal worker. They discuss issues such as social security, retirement, Bell Helicopter and Barbara Jordan.
