Rupert expresses his appreciation for the basket of fruit and good wishes for their trip. He advises that he saw Morgan Jones of Abilene on board and, also, the Duke of Windsor.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Omar Burleson, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated November 30, 1970. Burleson advises that he has obtained six tickets to the coming Cotton Bowl game by using the personal use plea and expresses to Carswell that it was a privilege to be of service.

A letter written to Mr. Thomas N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from H. C. Gurney, New York City, N.Y., dated December 30, 1969. Gurney advises Carswell regarding having known Mrs. Sarah Anna Simmons Crane for a number of years, of Crane having suffered severe reversal of fortune and if this would be of any interest to "you at Hardin-Simmons University". Gurney advises that Crane has been taken to a city nursing home, "and unless other plans could be undertaken, will probably spend the rest of her life there". Gurney advises of not being sure if Crane could answer if Carswell does write but that Crane was delighted to have received the note from Carswell at Christmas time.

The letter contains a notification by Collier of a meeting of the Trustees regarding the election of a President of the Board of Trustees, which had been held for the lifetime of the hospital by George S. Anderson, deceased.

Notification by Haynes of a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Hendrick Memorial Hospital which is to include wives. He advises that Mr. Cook and Dr. Harper are to show pictures of their game hunt in Africa.

White expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell concerning his new relationship with Baylor University. "I trust that I may render the greatest service of my life through this new position".

Burkhart advises Subject A-9803 of the referral of his application by the Governor to the Adult Authority for review but that the parole time served is not sufficent to evidence complete rehabilitation making a favorable recommendation doubtful. He advises of enclosed instructions which outlines the items required to make application for pardon and executive clemency.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from W. P. Ikenberry, Executive Vice-President, Whiting Oil Company, Clifton Forge, Virginia, dated September 30, 1970. Ikenberry expresses his pleasure of past aquaintance with Mrs. Carswell and Peggy and the feeling that he knew Carswell because of the number of times Mrs. Whiting spoke of him. He advises that he enclosed a certified copy of a resolution in respect to the memory of their late president, Mrs. Milton B. Whiting.

A picture postcard showing a photo labeled "The Mountain Drive, built by the C.C.C. Ft. Davis". The postcard includes correspondence to Miss Peggy Anne Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from D"addy" [T. N. Carswell], dated September 30, 1934, and postmarked Fort Davis, Tex., Oct. 1, 1934. A short handwritten note advises that he will get home before she receives this card.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Commander, 5th Division, American Legion, from Chas. Whitacre, Commander 19th District, American Legion, Lubbock, Texas, dated October 30, 1942. Whitacre expresses his appreciation for the kind letter from Carswell and notes that the sympathy from their many friends has made their loss easier and that they have been able, so far, to obtain the materials necessary to replace the home. Whitacre suggests as Chairman for the following committees; A. C. Jackson of Lubbock for the Transportation Committee, W. R. Weaver of Spur for the Float Committee and Charnell Jobe of Lamesa.

Stell requests that each member of the committee attend the District War Conference and make a brief report of the anticipated work by their committee. Typewritten on The American Legion Department of Texas letterhead bearing REQUISITION BOND watermark.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Preston Smith, Lieutenant Governor, Austin, Texas, dated November 30, 1967. An invitation issued to Carswell, his family and his friends "to discuss any problems confronting our State" at a coffee in Abilene at the Downtowner Motor Inn in the Crystal Room.

Fisher acknowledges his receipt of Carswell's contribution to the National Security Index for 1970 and welcomes him as a member of their National Voter Advisory Board.
