On the interior of the cover is a bookplate printed in purple ink. On the bookplate is an illustration of a room looking out onto a lawn. In the room is a high backed chair with a woman sitting in it facing the outside. There is an open door and on either side are two sets of shelves, one holding books and the other holding dolls. Through the open door is the lawn with a path leading up to a building with a spire. Walking down towards the room is a man. At the bottom of the plate is an unrolled scroll with the words "Ex Libris" and the name of the owner of the book, Gustine Courson Weaver, Mrs. Clifford Weaver. Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri and translated by Helen B. Dole. The cover of the book is made of a worn out brown fabric with a dark brown printing for the text and illustrations. Illustration on the cover is a laurel motif made of leaves and buds that surround the the names of the author, translator, and the title. At the top is the name of the series, Home and School Library and at the bottom is the name of the publisher. Inside the book accompanying the text are various black and white illustrations, the first one showing Heidi answering the door to a man in dark clothing and a dark top hat. The other illustration shown is of several men carrying a girl in a chair up a mountain path. Alongside the men is a woman riding a horse.

The illustration is captioned with, "Heidi spring joyfully about." Below the caption is a handwritten note in pencil.
