Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri, translated by Louise Brooks. The front cover of the book is covered in a brown cloth and printed with black ink. A print of the branch of an evergreen tree with long thin needles spans across the front of the cover and over the spine. On both the cover and the spine, the only text is the title. On the interior of the cover is a bookplate printed in purple ink. On the bookplate is an illustration of a room looking out onto a lawn. In the room is a high backed chair with a woman sitting in it facing the outside. There is an open door and on either side are two sets of shelves, one holding books and the other holding dolls. Through the open door is the lawn with a path leading up to a building with a spire. Walking down towards the room is a man. Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri and translated by Helen B. Dole. The cover of the book is made of a worn out brown fabric with a dark brown printing for the text and illustrations.
