This is the index for the Belford Contract books. The Belford Lumber Company was a well-known and respected business that operated in Georgetown, Texas, from 1891 until 1967. This company built some of the most architecturally and historically significant buildings and homes in Georgetown. C. S. Belford, the company’s founder, was known by other builders of his time as one of the best judges of construction in the state. The index has visible cloth tabs (on for each letter of the alphabet plus "Mc" and minus "X" and "Y" and "Z" share a tab). Smaller alphabet tabs are also visible at the bottom of the pages. On the backs of the pages that correspond with each letter (some are front and back) are a list of names (in Last, First format) with a short description of the job underneath ("Porch," "Addition to Residence," "Roof on Barn," "Hat Case," Sleeping Porch," etc). There is a bracket to the right of these lines and to the right of it is a number with a check mark next to it.
