Letter from J. M. Wagstaff confirming delivering of abstracts for the Santa Fe Railroad. Wagstaff also discusses engine problems that were had during travels on the railway from Abilene to Brownwood. Wagstaff provides information for the statement made by the Santa Fe Railway Company that the railroad would not be built in Abilene, but would run parallel to another track less than ten miles north. He also believes some of the railroads in Texas are not safe. He discusses that W. B. Story, a chief engineer for a railroad in northern Texas, had to make many fixes to the track. He states that the locations for the railroads are sometimes made despite the interests of the people in the towns the railroads are built in.
