White then reused the envelope to contact the sender, causing the second post mark from Kansas City, Missouri, on September 12, 1917. The stamp has been removed.

Letter from J. W. Berry to Claude White in which he describes the drought and its impact on the crops. He also writes about the work he has put in to the farm and says that he would like to stay there for four or five years.

Letter from Laura Jernigan to Mary Moore. She had written them and not received a letter until after she left on her first trip. Then when she returned she went on another trip and hasn't had time to respond. She gives some news about Jim. Jim and them went to the lake. She talks about the fruit and crops that were there. She talks about the weather. She talks about her garden and the vegetables that are in it. She hasn't heard from anyone in Tennessee in a long time. Her father went to Austin and passed through Waco, but was on a round trip so couldn't visit. She says she is still waiting for Linnet and Claude to come visit them.

Letter from W. J. McKinley to Claude D. White. Birdie wrote them a while ago and they never heard from them. They are worried that Claude and them are all sick. The last time they heard from them they were planning on coming to visit. He asks that they write back if they have been sick.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Carter J. Dalton and is addressed to Linnet Moore. In this letter, Dalton congratulates Linnet on her upcoming wedding. Her notes that his gift for her is a receipt for her past debts. Dalton details the latest news about friends, tells Moore about a sofa cushion he received, and mentions that he travels quite a bit with Jim Cooke so Jim can visit his girl, Minnie Lewis. He tells her what he has been doing and mentions that he had some visitors. He mentions the weather and how cold it has been. He was hoping to get a letter from her that evening, but didn't. He talks about all the rain they have had. He mentions food that he has eaten. He received a letter from Kate Wallace and a card from her. He will try to finish his letter and send it off. Willie has been visiting Priest. He again mentions the weather. He lost a tooth. He talks about the letters he is expecting and how well their milk is.

Letter to her mother Mary and cousin Birdie. Linnet talks about milking and how cold it is. She has so much milk she had to throw some to the hogs, and she has tons of butter. The Thursday and Friday after her mother left she tried cleaning. Tommie tried to come over, but the weather was too bad. Saturday she made cakes with Gertie. Sunday she had visitors come over and then they went to Jennie's. Tommie gave her a bracelet and Jennie gave her garters. Monday she went to Melissa with some friends. Tuesday Claud White came over. Wednesday she went to a party and had a great time. Thursday she cleaned all day and then had friends come over. Friday she went to another party. Saturday she went to Jennies for a dinner. Sunday she stayed home and later friends came over. She plans to go to town and will write again soon.

Letter from J. William Bounds to Charles B. Moore in which he says that he has visited a mutual friend, Mr. Crawford. Mr. Crawford is very interested in the phosphate mining industry. Mr. Bounds says that Nashville is a very pleasant place to live. He is a student at Vanderbilt University and plans to graduate soon.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by S. T. Appling to Sally Thornhill. In this letter, Appling discusses the current news in her community. She details the goings-on and well-being of family members. She notes to Sally that she has rheumatism in her hands, making it difficult to write. Appling states that the garden is all planted and details which crops are successful or failing at present. She mentions that Henry is currently shearing sheep, updates Sally on community news and family health, and mentions they do not have much fruit this season. This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written to Mary Ann and Charles B. Moore and is from Minny Rawlings, an friend in the same town as Linnet's school. She discusses Linnet's homesickness and a sick spell she went through during Christmas. Minny details that the combination of the two have made Linnet even more homesick and she has headaches almost every week. She tells the Moore's that she would have sent Linnet home, but the assignments Linnet turn in shows that she has intellectual promise and would be better served by staying in school. In a brief letter , dated February 16, 1898, Rawlings details that Linnet has had another bad headache and a pain in her side. She advised Linnet not to give up school and blames the bitter winter weather for everyone's gray mental well-being.
