Demolition of Old High School Building

Demolition of the old high school building which dates from 1909. It was also called Central Elementary. The building was on the southeast corner of the school property on the corner of Denton and Gregg Streets, with the front entrance facing east. This detail shows one part of the building that has already been demolished. Leafy tree branches jut into the top right side of the frame.

Demolition of the "pink building" at Congress Junior High. The structure was located at the corner of Denton and Gregg Streets and faced east. Previously, it was part of the old high school building which dates from 1909. It was also called Central Elementary. This detail shows the south part of the building having been already knocked down while the side in the right part of the frame is still standing. The front entrance still stands. Trees are growing right next to the building.

A bid by M&S Excavating and Wrecking Co. of Fort Worth was accepted in May of 1977 and the work was to be completed within 75 days.
