Inside the frame are three pressed edelweiss flowers which have stems that have been discolored with time. At the top is a label for ownership. Mrs. N. H. Dole is likely Helen B. Dole who was one of the translators of the novel "Heidi" by Johanna Spyri from German to English. On the paper backing is illegible, faded text.

Little Julia, resident of New York City, is taken to see her uncle's farm. Exposed to fields, animals, and the open spaces, she regrets having to return to the city. Back home, she wants to run away and return to her uncle's farm. Against her mother's orders, she does run away one day, but is found and brought home, and learns never to disobey her mother again.

Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri, translated by Louise Brooks. The front cover is a shade of yellow-brown, likely due from aging. The cover only has the book's title and an illustration of a branch of an evergreen tree with long thin needles. The spine of the book is a continuation of the illustration on the cover along with the title. At the bottom of the spine is the name of the publishers. On the title page is the title and publishing company in red ink and the subtitles and author's and translator's names.

Contained in wooden box with sliding lid, lid with colored illustration of the blocks and title; underside of lid with colored illustration showing 5 different ways the blocks can be arranged to make Tommy & Dobbin in different poses. Affixed to inside bottom of case is a second colored illustration showing 6 more poses.

The illustrations on the title are in two parts, one which is flowers is boxed in with the title and the names of the author and translator. The other illustration is set above the title in another box and shows a forest of evergreen trees in front of some mountains. Nestled in the trees is a small cabin. On the title page is the title of the book as well as the names of the author, translator, and publishers. Also on the title page are notes handwritten in faded pencil about the illustrator and publisher. On the opposite page is a black and white illustration captioned: The hut of the Alm-Uncle." In the illustration is a small cabin tucked into a grove of tall evergreen trees. Sitting on a bench outside of the cabin is an old man holding a stick. On the second page of the book is a small illustration of a girl, Heidi, walking in hand with a woman up a mountain. Page 66 …

The front cover has an oval design made up of yellow and teal flowers and leaves. Inside of the design is the title and the author's name. On the spine are more flower and leaf designs with the title, authors last name, and publisher's name. There is a black stripe above the publisher's name with white writing on it. On an interior page is a full page illustration of three characters from the book, Klara, Heidi, and Peter walking through a mountain pass.

On the cover page is a box which has some decorative motifs and contains the title and the names of the author, translator, author of the introduction, and the illustrator. Below that is a seal for the publishing company and then the locations and name of the publishing company. On the opposite page is an illustration of Heidi having a picnic with an older boy. They are sitting in a field holding bread and cheese. Behind them are several goats grazing on the mountainside. In the background is a forest of evergreens and more mountains.

In the background are snow covered evergreen trees. In the book are colored illustrations, one of which is Heidi walking down a path into town with her grandfather.
