A farmer, he was born in the Cherokee Nation in what is now Sequoyah County. He is a half-blood Cherokee Indian. His mother is full blood, and his father is white. Mr. Frye's wife is a quarter blood Cherokee, and a great niece of the noted warrior, Gen. Stan Watie. Frye was a member of the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention.
