Photograph of the Anderson Hotel which Hotel faced north on E. Houston St with Old Hwy 59(Now Washington Ave/Bus.59) on its right in Cleveland, Texas. The hotel had a large stairway leading to the upstairs rooms from the luxurious lobby. It also had a restaurant within the hotel.

Charles O. Austin Memorial Library (First Public Library)
Photograph of first public library in Cleveland built by Mrs. Bessie Austin as memorial to her late husband called the Charles O. Austin Memorial Library. It was about 1/2 block from the grammar school. Students would walk single file to check out books. Three sides of the library were shelves of books. The only other item was a small desk and chair where the librarian worked. As of November 3, 2023, building razed due to termite damage and general deterioration.

This building would become Southside Elementary after a new high school was built in 1956, Junior High was moved to the previous high school building and Northside Elementary was already open in 1953.
