Photograph of several houses and barns in the mid 1400s. The top left photo was taken in front of a house where they spent the winter of ’44. Tip of burned roof on left. Chicken house just in front of house. The photos are described as "Top right: Side view of house. Barn in front. “there is a duck” Bottom left: barn in front of house. We used it as mess hall. Pit in middle of yard used for all garbage from kitchen, chicken house, hay from cattle barn etc. It rotted during the winter and spread on fields in the Spring. Smelled terrible. Top left: barn mess hall left washing mess kits. Top middle: German trailer we used as our office. Top right: Me – back view. Bottom left: pups-“K” ration and “C” ration. We had dogs, ducks and a hog. The Frenchmen came by and fed them."
