NOBELIUM: TRACER CHEMISTRY OF THE DIVALENT AND TRI-VALENTIONS
In the absence of oxidizing or reducing agents the chromatographic and coprecipitation behavior of element 102 is similar to that of the alkaline earth elements. After oxidation with ceric ions, the behavior is that expected of a trivalent actinide. The conclusion is that nobelium is the first actinide for which the +2 oxidation state is the most stable species in aqueous solution.

CHARGE TRANSFER BETWEEN POSITIVE ALKALI IONS AND ATOMS
The total cross sections for resonant charge exchange have been measured as a function of energy in the range from 10 to 500 eV for the Cs{sup +}-Cs, Rb{sup +}-Rb, and K{sup +}-K systems. The agreement with certain data obtained at higher energies for these systems, and with theoretical cross sections of Smirnov is satisfactory.

Quanah Parker's Narrow Escape
Article chronicles how Comanche chief, Quanah Parker, narrowly escaped being killed by carbon monoxide during a stay at a hotel. The accident resulted in Parker's companion, Yellow Bear, dying and roused suspicion throughout the Comanche population. In the end, the people chose to support Parker due to the respect he held on the reservations.
