Miller advises Carswell that he is enclosing a copy of the letter which he is writing to Dr. Jeff Davis. He advises that the letter might be of interest since Carswell phoned yesterday afternoon. The attached letter is written to Dr. Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys from E. J. Miller, Judge, 35th Judicial District, Brownwood, Texas dated July 16, 1941. Miller reports on the proceedings regarding Ellison vs. Texas Liquor Board, advises to await the action of the Court of Civil Appeals and gives a brief itinerary of his travel and work to date and for the next two weeks requesting further remittance as soon as it may be convenient.

A letter written to Mr. Thos. N. Carswell, c/o Local Board No. 1, Selective Service, Brownwood, Texas, from Harry E. Rather, Department Adjutant, The American Legion, Austin, Texas, dated July 13, 1943. Rather recounts the events of the morning both before and after they received Carswell's letter, describes the new membership as a pleasant surprise and advises that Carswell has saved his Division while reviving a "goose-egg" Post.
