"Black Bulldogger of the 101" by Darlene Baldwin, Orbit, Dec. 3, 1972. Story of life as a cowboy on the 101 Ranch in northern Oklahoma. Pickett is credited as the first man to bulldog a longhorn. Tale of meeting with a killer bull in Mexico City, 1908, is part of the article. When Pickett died, at the age of 71, he was still working at the 101 Ranch and was buried there. 2 pages

Letter to the Daily Ardmoreite, June 2, 1972, from J. A. Barker, Vidor, Texas, concerning articles from the Beaumont Enterprise, June 19, 1972. In the enclosed articles Billy Bryant, a former Texas Ranger, reports several stories of early days including an account of his shooting of Bud Blue (Ballew ?) in revenge for the death of his cousin Rufe Hinote. The shooting took place in Ardmore. In the letter Mr. Barker questions the truth of this story, as he was told otherwise as a small boy.
