[Beulah Harriss scrapbook]

Scrapbook of photographs belonging to Beulah Harriss, a 1914 graduate of the University of Nebraska, who came to Denton to teach at the North Texas State Normal College. She was the first woman to be hired into the athletics department of the school, coaching women's basketball among other sports. Harriss also organized the first Denton Girl Scouts troop in 1919, founded the Green Jackets Club in 1926, and was one of 13 professors from North Texas State Teachers College who started the Denton County Teachers Federal Credit Union (DATCU) in 1936. The scrapbook contains 11 loose photos which have been scanned and ordered after the pages of the book. [Denton County Courthouse in Denton, TX]

Photograph of Denton County Courthouse in Denton, TX. A road occupies the bottom edge of the image and includes a series of parking spaces occupied by three vehicles, all facing the yellow lawn of the courthouse. Multiple leafless trees occupy the lawn, as does a streetlight near the parked vehicles, while green bushes line the base of the courthouse's walls. The main part of the building is cubic in shape with walls made of orange bricks constructed to form three floors. On each side of the building are three rows of windows, all set into white frames, along with entryways consisting of short sets of stairs and brick archways held up by four red columns. Above each side's archway is a short wall set at the level of the second floor, each with four red columns sitting atop the walls and holding up a similar structure set at the level of the third floor. The columns at the third-floor level hold up large triangular pediments. At each corner of the courthouse is a tower which, similarly to the entryways on the sides, have red columns at each floor which hold up the floor above them. The towers have open-air balconies …
