Opera Coat

Opera coat of black velour with ecru floss embroidery. Rows of embroidery are embellished with knots and outside edges of rows are knotted with 1-1/2" loops of embroidery floss. Cloche

Cloche of straw, silk, chiffon, etc. The hat is styled with an irregular, deep crown which flares slightly at base to act as a residual brim. The surface of the hat is composed of bands of various materials and ornamentation, including narrow border bands of woven golden straw, bands of off-white chiffon which are sewn through to create rows of diagonal "puffs", similar bands of narrow threading, and a wide band of brown silk. The top of the crown is formed of a diamond shape of the brown silk bordered with the narrow threaded diagonal bands. Hat lined in black fabric, with embroidered logo and maker's label: "New York [Image of a lady in hat] Paris / Arle Hats / Inc."

Cloche

Cloche style hat of beige crocheted straw. The rounded crown with tucks and folds is created of beige straw which has been crocheted. Around base of crown is band of dark brown piping. Shallow brim is turned up around sides and back, with wide edge band of brown satin with parallel rows of stitching. Front of brim has radiating ridges worked into straw.
