[First Methodist Church, Marshall, Texas]

Color halftone postcard of the First United Methodist Church, located at 300 East Houston St., in Marshall, Texas, photographed in the 1950s. The main building was constructed in 1861. It is a front gable brick masonry structure in a Greek revival stye with a bell tower and steeple on top of the front gable. The entrance porch has four tapered square brick columns surmounted by a pediment. The photograph was taken after 1949 when there were renovations and an addition to the east of the building. A redesigned bell tower with octagonal cupola replaced an earlier tower. Stucco was applied to the original brick masonry in 1927. An automobile is parked in front of the church, and a traffic light is visible suspended from a wire to the right of the building. There is no postmark or message on the back. Eureka No. 2 K. of P. Degree Team

Group photograph of the Marshall, Texas Eureka No. 2 Knights of Pythias Degree Team in costume, taken inside their lodge building. Windows with Venetian blinds are visible behind the group and decorative knights' shields hang on the wall. Three men are sitting in the center front, two holding swords in front of them and twenty men stand behind them. The title "Eureka No. 2 K. of P. Degree Team" is printed in the center of the bottom of the print. On the lower right is printed "Photo by Parker-Corti, Marshall, Tx. Handwritten in ink on the lower right of the mount board are "Pop, K. P.," indicating that one of the men was Marion Sims McCutchan, Sr.

Photograph of the officers of the Marshall, Texas Knights of Pythias, Eureka No. 2 taken by Parker-Corti. It was taken inside the lodge building. Seven men are seated and four are standing behind them. Five of those seated are wearing robes and regalia, and the others are wearing suits and ties. The windows in the lodge room have dark wood Venetian blinds. Painted on an arched window without blinds, above the central window, are the words "Eureka Lodge No. 2, K. of P." (The letters are backward to be read from the exterior of the building.) The man in the center is seated on a large, throne-like, high-backed chair. Two decorative armorial shields are mounted on either side of the central window. The man on the far left is holding a sword over his shoulder. On the lower right is printed "Photo by Parker-Corti, Marshall, Tx. "

[Sam Houston School Booklet, 1959-60]

This pamphlet provides basic information about Sam Houston School, an elementary school in Marshall, Texas, for the 1959-60 school year. It includes the names of the teachers and the grades they taught, a history of the school, and a list of the school's principals and the years they served. It was intended for distribution to the parents of the pupils. The paper cover has a photograph of the school building provided by the Marshall New Messenger. On the back is a photo of the principal, W. H. Segraves. The text was reproduced by a spirit duplicator, and the purple ink has faded over time.

Campaign card on a pale pink card for G. P. Stedman, "candidate for re-election to the office of County Treasurer of Harrison County, subject to the action of the Citizens Party Primary, July 25th, 1914. Respectfully solicits your vote and influence." There is a small oval logo in the lower left corner: "Typographical Union Label, Marshall, Tex." Someone wrote what appear to be unrelated notes on the back of the card.

Carroll, originally from St. Louis, served as minister of the First Presbyterian Church, Marshall, Texas, from Nov. 7, 1920 to Feb. 19, 1934. Written in pencil on the back: "Probably Washington Irving Carroll, D D, Pastor of 1st Presbyterian Church, Marshall, TX 1920s to early 30s. Stamped on the back: "Please credit Strauss Portrait, St. Louis."

Color tinted halftone postcard from around 1911 showing St. Mary's Academy, Marshall, Texas. The view shows a side entrance facing the street and part of the main entrance on the left. It is a three-story brick building on a raised basement of stone. Printed on the top of the image in black is the title, "St. Marie's [sic] Academy, Marshall, Texas." The postmark on the back of the card is dated Dec. 21, 1911, and the card is addressed to Mrs. Ida Swartz in Reading, Pa. Printed on the left edge of the message section of the back: "Published exclusively for Duke & Ayres Nickel Stores. Made in U. S. A." Holy Cross nuns founded St. Mary's Academy in Marshall in 1880. It continued until 1957. This building was constructed in 1911.
