Grass seedlings were mulched with prairie hay that was hand spread following planting at the rate of 3 tons per acre and anchored with a tandem disc from March 15 - 17, 1967. This shows an adequate mulch cover, but demonstrates by the amount of loose hay on the surface that the tandem disc did not properly anchor this mulch. OK-2767-4.

The second row was fertilized at 200 pounds of 10-20-10 fertilizer at planting time with 50 pounds of nitrogen [N] top dressed on March 16, 1967. The third row was fertilized at 400 pounds per acre at planting time (September 29, 1966). The fourth row was fertilized at 200 pounds (September 29, 1966).
