Russell acknowledges his receipt of the telegram sent by Carswell and accepts the invitation to address the Armistice Day Program if it is to be held during the day citing a previous engagement in Stamford that night.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Harry L. Spencer, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Stephenville, Texas, dated September 4, 1942. Spencer declares the idea Carswell is promoting as "indispensible" in a permanent solution of the liquor problem in our country.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from W. T. Walton, President, Ranger Junior College, dated April 23, 1941. Walton advises Carswell of the enclosed copy of the minutes of their meeting in Cisco regarding an organization for college students who are sons and daughters of World War Veterans, and he expresses his pleasure of having worked on the Committee with Carswell noting that he would see him at Hardin-Simmons for the inauguration of Dr. White.

A form letter from W. J. Wisdom, 17th Dist. Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated August 7, 1942. Wisdom advises of the selection of Carswell as a member of the Department Convention Committee on Rules, and stresses that attendance at the convention is important.

A letter written to Mr. G. Ward Moody, Field Representative, The American Legion, Austin, Texas, from W. J. Wisdom, 17th Dist. Commander, Stephenville, Texas, dated October 20, 1942. Wisdom explains the reason for his delay in answering Moody's letter, that it is due to membership quotas being set too high and advises that the talk from the boys from most of the posts is regarding lowering membership quotas. He advises of the attached sheet listing quotas for each Post. Attachment includes: Report by G. Ward Moody, Austin. Suggested quotas for Posts in 17th District, Department of Texas, The American Legion and a handwritten note to Tommy from Bill, "This is terrible, Tommy".

A form letter addressed to All Posts, 17th District, from W. J. Wisdom, 17th District Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated June 14, 1943. Wisdom advises of his decision to leave his command at the American Legion to report to the United Service Organization, wanting to get into the Army, but that this will be as close as he gets. He refers to the vacant room of his lad of eighteen, just like the countless other vacant rooms throughout the land and makes the appeal, "I urge, implore and beg of you to be about our country's business, and be the kind of American those absent boys expect you to be."

Wisdom, Chairman of Committee, John Tarleton Agricultural College, Stephenville, Texas, dated April 3, 1941. Wisdom advises Carswell of their placement on a committee created to work out the details of an organization for college students who are sons and daughters of World War Veterans.

Wisdom expresses his appreciation for Carswell's good will and whole-hearted cooperation during the time that Wisdom was district commander and extends Christmas greetings.
