The latter flower was used for her cap and apron, requiring 556 blossoms. The skirt featured a border of a lighter pink, embossed with tulips made from banana leaves and hibiscus petals. Trimming on neckline and sleeves, in five point star design, were created by using 150 inverted bougainvillea centers. Wooden shoes were made of Rhodes grass bloom. Cost: $17.08 Time: 723 hours.

Marion is representing the Gulf Distributing Co. The sunback play-dress of pepper and eggplant won honorable mention. It was designed with a hand-block pattern, worked into a floral design. top of the dress was made of diiamond shaped peiced of eggplant. her wap-around stole was made of square shaped peppers, with red pyracantha berries foming a fandago fringe. The long strink of beads, twisted in an ornamental know, was made of pyracantha berries also. Her straw sandals were made of raffia used by vegetable shippers to tie bunched vegetables. Workers spent 325 hours in making the costume and $75.00 for materials.

Mrs. Lettunich is representing the Weslaco Rotary Club. The model wore an authentic copy of a dres found in the pages of a Godey's lady book. The gown was made entirely of tepejuaje leaves. Members of the Mother's club of the Stephen F. Austin School made it for the Rotary Club. White chrysanthemums were used in decorating the pankcake hat and for the hand muff. The same flower petals decorated the dress. A small amount of gold glitter was used to brighten the costume which required 394 hours to complete.

Elizabeth is representing the Future Homemakers of McAllen. This two-piece suit was composed of 2,664 orange tree leaves. The blouse, hat, gloves, shoes, trimmings and single coat button were of Chinese hat. Her purse was made of tree leaves to match the tailored suit. Cost of the materials was $3.60.

This ensemble used tepehuaje leaves to make the dress with polka dots of grapefruit membrane which was also used to make the collor and the gloves. The feathered hat, purse, and jewelry were fashioned from Chinese hat blossoms. Made in 272 hours. It took 20 pints of tepehuaje leaves, 1 bushel of grapefruit and 5 quarts. Chinese hat blossoms. Cost $21.48.
