The first printed edict is from the Marques concerning the eradication of the Jesuit School of Thought; none may teach nor any university allow their books in their possession. The printed Bando is from the Marques and contains a referral by the King to a previous "Real Cedula" where religious authorities are not to give asylum to criminals hiding in churches.

This three-act opera is dedicated to His Most Serene Highness Monseigneur Duke of Orleans and premiered on 6 March 1769 at les Comediens italiens ordinaires du roi. This full score opens with a letter of dedication from the composer to his patron.
