The main body of this thesis is composed of four chapters: Chapter II is concerned with the development of the oil industry in Texas prior to the discovery of Spindletop; Chapter III deals with Spindletop; Chapter IV sets forth the later developments of the oil industry in Southeast Texas or Railroad Commission District No. 3; Chapter V is the concluding chapter, complete with summary, evaluation present status and future possibilities of the oil industry in Southeast Texas.

The purpose of the study is to determine whether or not the housing facilities provided for the industrial arts programs in the Beaumont Public Schools meet current recommendations concerning housing facilities as stated by five selected authorities in the field of school housing.

The purpose of this study is to determine pertinent contents for a bulletin for beginning teachers in the public schools of Port Arthur, Texas. An effort is made to evaluate the findings and to make specific recommendations regarding the contents of such a bulletin.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the problem of dropouts or withdrawals among the pupils of the secondary schools of Port Arthur, Texas. It was hoped that some significant information could be compiled as to the reasons why such students in this particular city leave school before high-school graduation, and that academic, environmental, and personal factors might be identified in their relationship to the causation of dropouts or withdrawals.
