Photograph taken for a newspaper owned by the Oklahoma Publishing Company. Caption: "Auto occupied by doctor's wife plunged into creek near another car after bridge collapse. A city physician, Dr. Paul Barrett, rescued his wife and two children from their partially-submerged automobile early today after a bridge collapsed in northwest Oklahoma City. Authorities said the bridge had been damaged a few minutes earlier when it was struck by another car which also tumbled into the creek. The mishaps occurred at NW 122 and MacArthur, leaving two persons injured. Police said the first accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when an auto driven by Charles Eugene Lampkin, 39, 12108 Blue Sage, struck the bridge. They said Lampkin's auto plunged 30 feet into the creek and apparently damaged the bridge supports. They said the accident was noticed by Mrs. Mary Jo Barrett, 7330 NW 23, as she approached the bridge in a car followed by another auto occupied by her physician-husband. Police said both vehicles stopped, but Mrs. Barrett continued onto the bridge, which splintered sending the car hurtling into the creek bed near Lampkin's auto. Officers said Dr. Barrett suffered minor injuries as he helped his wife and youngsters."
