Handwritten letter from Manuel Gonzales to John J. Herrera, dated September, 1976, refers to the enclosed letter from William D. Bonilla, Treasurer of the Board of LULAC Foundation, to J. D. McMillan of the Exxon Company. The letter from Bonilla, dated September 1, 1976, returns a donation check of $10,000 sent by McMillan as it was made out to LULAC instead of the LULAC Foundation and asks to clarify to which organization he is making a donation.

Letter from Ray A. Gano dated June 8, 1979 and printed on League of United Latin American Citizens letterhead. The letter informs recipients that, due to family obligations, Gano will not be able to make it to the 50th Anniversary National Convention to be held in Houston. Below the typed text of the letter is a handwritten note to John J. Herrera from Gano. It reads, "Please help us, you are a man of principle and ethics, consider what happened to Arizona during Joe Benites' term - Again we must act to protect the League - I know you can help us and I know you will."
