A view of the parking lot in front of the Emily Fowler Library, Oakland street can be partially seen on the left side of the picture. Photograph taken from in front of the library. It had rained for many days when this flash flood occurred. A couple of people tried to drive out of the parking lot before the water had reached this level and their engines flooded. It happened in minutes. This photo was taken just as the rain was starting to dissipate.

This photograph was taken after the rain stopped during a flash flood on April 24, 2007, in Denton, Texas. Staff member, Leslie Couture went outside and took the photograph from the Festival Bridge on the southeast corner behind the library. The water came up to her knees while she was walking towards the bridge. That is how much the water had crested the banks of the creek.

The rain stopped shortly after 5 p.m. Library assistant, Leslie Couture, went outside and took photos of Oakland Street from the staff entrance on the west side of the building. While the water did not breach the building, it did come within six feet of the door.
