McCarter writes that from the point of view of NTIEVA, there has been new energy and focus from Woolery's good words from their panel, TASA/TASB. It gave NTIEVA them insight into the leadership Woolery is providing. McCarter also writes that they appreciate Dr. Skinner and Bill Cormack, who have proven themselves as able spokespersons for the distract during their recent meeting at the Dallas Museum between DMA Education Committee and members of the Board of the Marcus Foundation. McCarter ends the letter by stating that NTIEVA is in the early stages of planning for activities during the summer of 1995 and that the involvement of the Dallas teachers makes them look forward to another successful Institute. In regards to leaving her position at the Amon Carter and leaving Texas for southern California to work for the J. Paul Getty Museum as the Education Manager for Family, Teacher, and School Audiences. Perkins writes how sad she feels leaving her many friends, colleagues and the members of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts and hopes she can get together with McCarter before her departure.

In discussion of an upcoming class trip from Plano students to the DMA for a video session. Reynolds writes that the expected trip will take place on March 31, at 10:00 am with a second grade class from Christie Elementary in Plano. The children will first view a video in the school taught by the classroom teacher and art specialist before the museum experience. The two video sessions will be part of a joint Texas/Nebraska teleworkshop that will be broadcast to 19 states on October 7 and 21.

Davis and McCarter are especially appreciative of the support Sonnenberg has extended to NTIEVA and its efforts. Davis and McCarter are proud of the strides the program has affected the district in the three short years, yet are fearful about the impending budget crisis the district faces and the districts reasoning to reduce the number of art specialists because of such. Davis and McCarter hope no such thing should occur and that eliminating or reducing the number of art specialists will affect the quality of the program which has been developed along with hampering any further relationship with DISD.

A letter from Harold M. Williams, President and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust, to Secretary Lamar Alexander, United States Department of Education. The letter is in regards to Williams participating in Alexander's meeting with Los Angeles arts and education leaders to discuss the actions which the Department can take to acknowledge the role of arts education in national education reform. Williams has attached an enclosed statement that identifies several of the Center's national projects.
