Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Bill Cormack, Superintendent of Dallas ISD. McCarter writes that from the point of view of NTIEVA, there has been new energy and focus from Woolery's good words from their panel, TASA/TASB. It gave NTIEVA them insight into the leadership Woolery is providing. McCarter also writes that they appreciate Dr. Skinner and Bill Cormack, who have proven themselves as able spokespersons for the distract during their recent meeting at the Dallas Museum between DMA Education Committee and members of the Board of the Marcus Foundation. McCarter ends the letter by stating that NTIEVA is in the early stages of planning for activities during the summer of 1995 and that the involvement of the Dallas teachers makes them look forward to another successful Institute. Thanking Sonneberg for attending a meeting with them to discuss the elementary visual arts program in the DISD, and appreciating Sonnenberg for the leadership to insure the elementary students in Denton receive quality instruction in visual arts. Davis and McCarter are especially appreciative of the support Sonnenberg has extended to NTIEVA and its efforts. Davis and McCarter are proud of the strides the program has affected the district in the three short years, yet are fearful about the impending budget crisis the district faces and the districts reasoning to reduce the number of art specialists because of such. Davis and McCarter hope no such thing should occur and that eliminating or reducing the number of art specialists will affect the quality of the program which has been developed along with hampering any further relationship with DISD.
