He encloses a xeroxed newspaper clipping from The Advocate about his play. A third clipping shows a portrait of the writer wearing sunglasses, shorts, and an American flag bandana in front of a chain-link fence.

Letter from Kate Martin, project management specialist from the Department of Arts and Cultural Affairs, to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. She sends word of Houston's approval for an award of three thousand dollars. Selected by the Cultural Arts Board, the award notice has been sent to the City Council for final approval. It is the final approval that Houston awaits.

Letter from Lisa Ortiz of the DagenBela art gallery to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. Lisa writes to invite him to the opening reception of a photography exhibit titled "S.A. Peoplescapes - The 'No" Series." A formal invitation, she goes on to say, will be arriving at a later date.

Letter from Mary H. Langford to Thelma Rice discussing the use of funds to host an expensive gala at the upcoming National Assembly of The Links, Inc. in Dallas, Texas. The Spokane, Washington chapter has collected a $1,200 member assessment under threat of expulsion from Links. Langford has enclosed the check but would like the area and national directors to reconsider the intended use of these funds. She and other members of the Spokane chapter believe it is inappropriate to hold a lavish party at the National Assembly during an economic recession that is taking a toll on so many Americans, and particularly on black families.

Letter from Thelma Rice to Mary H. Langford stating that she received Langford's letter about the appropriateness of The Links, Inc. holding an expensive gala during a time of economic hardship. Although she understands Langford's concerns, the gala is a tradition for which planning began several years ago. She is not sure whether plans for the gala can be altered at this point but will make sure her concerns are discussed with the national director.
