Texas Attorney General Opinion: LO96-030

Letter opinion issued by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas in Austin, Texas, providing an interpretation of Texas law. It provides the opinion of the Texas Attorney General, Dan Morales, regarding a legal question submitted for clarification; Whether it is constitutional o require a lessor to pay ad valorem taxes on a motor vehicle that the lessor leases to a person who uses the vehicle primarily for personal purposes and not for the production of income (ID# 36801)

Application of integrated reservoir management and reservoir characterization to optimize infill drilling. Quarterly technical progress report, December 13, 1995--March 12, 1996 (open access)

Application of integrated reservoir management and reservoir characterization to optimize infill drilling. Quarterly technical progress report, December 13, 1995--March 12, 1996

This project has used a multi-disciplinary approach employing geology, geophysics, and engineering to conduct advanced reservoir characterization and management activities to design and implement an optimized infill drilling program at the North Robertson Unit. The activities during the first Budget Period, which is now complete, consisted of developing an integrated reservoir description from geological, engineering, and geostatistical studies, and using this description for reservoir flow simulation. Specific reservoir management activities have been identified and tested. The geologically targeted infill drilling program to be implemented during Budget Period II is a result of this work.

Pollution prevention through systems analysis (open access)

Pollution prevention through systems analysis

Their needs to identify barriers that impede the implementation of pollution prevention (P2) and to develop ways to eliminate them. On a broad scale, this includes such barriers as inflexible procedures, pore specifications, and the `wrong` type of money. In industry, the potential expense and the complexity of processes together serve as a barrier to the exploration of P2 opportunities that involve significant process change. This paper addresses the latter barrier and presents systems analysis, including process modeling and analysis, as a potential solution.

Test and evaluation report for Westinghouse Hanford Company`s 1-L liquid shipper, docket 95-41-7A, Type A container (open access)

Test and evaluation report for Westinghouse Hanford Company`s 1-L liquid shipper, docket 95-41-7A, Type A container

This report incorporates the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Facility Safety Analysis (DOE/EH-32) approval letter for packaging use. This report documents the U.S. Department of Transportation Specification 7A Type A (DOT-7A) compliance test results of the 1-L Liquid Shipper packaging. The approved packaging system is designed to ship Type A quantities of radioactive materials, normal form. Contents may be liquid or solid form. Liquid contents must have a specific gravity {lt}2. Solid materials are limited in weight, to include packaging, to the gross weight of the as-tested liquids and bottles.

Sampling and analysis of sludge from the Hanford K East basin (open access)

Sampling and analysis of sludge from the Hanford K East basin

Sludge samples from the floor of the Hanford K East Basin fuel storage pool has been retrieved and analyzed. Both chemical and physical properties have been determined. The results are to be used to determine the disposition of the bulk of the sludge and possibly assess the impact of residual sludge on dry storage of the associated intact metallic uranium fuel elements.

Characterization of Hanford K basin spent nuclear fuel and sludge (open access)

Characterization of Hanford K basin spent nuclear fuel and sludge

A characterization plan was prepared to support the Integrated Process Strategy (IPS) for resolution of the safety and environmental concerns associated with the deteriorating Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) stored in the Hanford Site K Basins. This plan provides the structure and logic and identifies the information needs to be supported by the characterization activities. The IPS involves removal of the fuel elements from the storage canister and placing them in a container, i.e., Multiple Canister Overpack (MCO) capable of holding multiple tiers of baskets full of fuel. The MCOs will be vacuum dried to remove free water and shipped to the Container Storage Building (CSB) where they will be staged waiting for hot vacuum conditioning. The MCO will be placed in interim storage in the CSB following conditioning and disposition.
