The aerodynamic properties of thick aerofoils suitable for internal bracing
From Introduction: "The object of this investigation was to determine the characteristics of various types of wings having sufficient depth to entirely inclose the wing bracing, and also to provide data for the further design of such sections. Results of the investigation of the following subjects are given: (1) effect of changing the upper and lower camber of thick aerofoils of uniform section; (2) effect of thickening the center and thinning the tips of a thin aerofoil; (3) effect of adding a convex lower surface to a tapered section; (4) effect of changing the mean thickness with constant center and tip sections; and (5) effect of varying the chord along the span."

The Alfalfa Caterpillar
"The alfalfa caterpillar is one of the most destructive insect pests of alfalfa in the southwestern United States. In 1914 a complete report of the life history of this caterpillar, together with the methods of control, was published. The present paper contains additional information relating to methods of controlling the pest by the management of irrigation water as well as a brief account of its natural history, and is intended to meet the ever-increasing demands of ranchers and others for assistance in protecting their alfalfa against these "green worms." -- p. 3

Aspen Borer and How to Control It
"This bulletin gives methods of controlling the aspen borer or reducing its damage to a minimum. It is based on extensive studies made in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado, but the data in general apply to all regions of the United States where the poplars are native. The introduced Lombardy poplar is very seldom injured, but the commercial cottonwood of the Mississippi Valley seems to be the only native species of poplar which is at all immune to the attack of this insect." -- p. 2

The Brown-Spot of Corn with Suggestions for Its Control
"The purpose of this bulletin is to familiarize the farmer with the appearance, distribution, nature, and economic importance of the brown-spot of corn and to offer certain helpful suggestions for its control.... High temperature in combination with high humidity favors the development of the disease. For this reason the damage is greater in the South, where high temperatures prevail throughout the summer and the rainfall is rather heavy. The disease is caused by a minute fungus parasite.... Careful field sanitation, crop rotation, and seed selection aid in controlling the disease." -- p. 2

"The live oak and the valley oak, which are characteristic of the landscape of central California, often are stripped of their leaves by a dark-striped worm which is the young stage of a light-brown moth. Besides stripping the trees of their leaves and making the owner think that they are dead, the worm crawls on lawns, walks, fences, and into houses, swimming pools, etc., becoming a general nuisance.... Carbureting Conditions Characteristics of Aircraft Engines
Tests were conducted at the altitude laboratory erected at the Bureau of Standards for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics to determine the changes in engine performance with changes in atmospheric temperature and pressure at various levels above the earth's surface, with special reference to (a) the variables affecting the functioning of the carburetor and (b) the changes in performance resulting from variables in the carburetor itself. This report constitutes a concise statement of the difficulties to be encountered in this branch of carburetion.
