Introduction: "During the early planning of the multicurie cells at Hanford it was decided that a slave type manipulator would be necessary to perform the experiments for which the cells were being designed. The design required steel roofs for installation through a port hole in the face. Technical Services Equipment Development began developing the proposed manipulator in January 1951 by making a study of those existing at that tune. None met the requirements which had been established; therefore, the design of a special manipulator was started immediately."

Report presenting an investigation of several fuels in a 16-inch ramjet engine during a free-jet investigation of ramjet performance in a wind tunnel. The fuels used were gasoline, kerosene, blend of 50-percent gasoline and 50-percent propylene oxide, blend of 75-percent kerosene and 25-percent propylene oxide, and isopentane. Results regarding ranges of operation, combustion efficiencies, and weight and volume specific fuel consumptions obtained with various fuels.

"The pulsed source technique consists of introducing repeated short bursts of neutrons into a subcritical assembly, and following the decay of the leakage flux as a function of time...It is noted that plotting the decay constant as a function of buckling gives an apparently accurate way to extrapolate to prompt critical. The pulsed source technique can also be used to calibrate control rod and poison worth, and will give some estimate of the prompt neutron lifetime."

Results of a questionnaire survey are presented on reactor supervisor and operator education, experience, and training, and on certification procedures by reactor category. The questionnaires were obtained from 362 supervisors, 393 operators, 44 supervisor trainees, and 139 operator trainees.
