From introduction: A thorough investigation, both experimental and theoretical was carried out on plaque type radiators. Five phases of the work are reported: preliminary design analysis, experimental measurements, computational program and analytical studies, followed by a general discussion of source design principles. The results are summarized in graphs and formulae which may be applied to other design requirements.

Abstract: Irradiated fuel elements from the Organic Moderated Reactor Experiment (OMRE) first core loading have been examined and evaluated to determine: (1) the stability of the floating plate fuel element design, (2) the stability of the stainless steel clad UO2 - stainless steel cermet core fuel plates under irradiation and exposure to the organic coolant, (3) the extent and nature of deposits on the fuel element services, and (4) the distribution of burnup in the fuel elements.

Abstract: A loop has been constructed to study the removal of water and highly volatile materials from Organic Moderated Reactor coolant by vacuum degasification. An analysis of the process was made to determine the most important parameters for study during the experimental program.

Abstract: Accurate measurement of OMRE fuel-element surface temperatures is important for evaluation of the performance of organic compound as moderator and coolant materials in nuclear reactors; a mixture of polyphenyls has been used in reactor operation to-date.

Abstract: A fuel material evaluation was made by destructively examining a full-scale experimental fuel element, irradiated in the SRE to a maximum of 850 Mwd/MTU.

Abstract: "Available data on wind persistence and wind forecasting capability have been applied in estimating the probability of a fallout pattern shifting from an uninhabited safe sector into a populated region. Safety probability is computed from win variability, forecasting accuracy, initial height and particle size of radioactivity landing at a point in the predicted fallout pattern, predicted wind speed, length of forecast period, and safe-sector angular width."

Abstract: "Wind observations collected at Yucca Flat since 1951 are analyzed for timewise variability. Variability functions of altitude, season, wind speed, and vector wind are described. Derived variability parameters are incorporated into calculations of fallout safety probability for NTS operations."

"Investigations into the behavior of the gas flow behind spherical or cylindrical blasts have shown that secondary shocks arise within the original detonation gases. The secondary shock, at first weak, is carried outward with the expanding gases. Subsequently it strengthens and bends back toward the origin, arriving there with high intensity. By using some recently developed techniques in shock dynamics a theory is developed by which the motion of the main shock wave, as well as the formation and subsequent motion of the secondary shock, are given by explicit formulae."

From Introduction: "The data are presented with the idea that an engineer who is making initial calculations on equipment for operation at cryogenic temperatures is more interested in obtaining quickly a definite figure that he in evaluating the experimental data given in several detailed reports on the same material. The graphs and tables presented here, consequently, represent an attempt by the authors to perform evaluation of data which have appeared in the literature and to present the design engineer with the result."

From Introduction: "The present paper contains detailed descriptions of the methods used in calculating both the elastic constants and the statistical parameters. These detailed descriptions have been included for two reasons: (1) To leave no doubt as to the exact procedure, and (2) to act as a guide to other workers who might wish to make similar determinations."

From Abstract: "Several dynamic determinations have been made of the constants of quartz. Most of these determinations do not take into account the piezoelectric effect; those that do, suffer from certain deficiencies which are discussed in this paper."
