The Absorption Spectra of Complexes of Uranium (VI) with Some [beta]-Diketones (open access)

The Absorption Spectra of Complexes of Uranium (VI) with Some [beta]-Diketones

Abstract: "The absorption spectra of the complexes of uranium (VI) with four [beta]-diketones were determined under various conditions of pH, concentration of uranium, and alcohol concentration. Under optimum conditions, the maximum molar absorptivity (31,200) is obtained using 2-furoyltri-fluoroacetone. This compares with about 4,000 and 19,000 for the thiocyanate and dibenzoylmethane complexes, respectively."

Semiquantitative Spectrographic Analysis and Rank Correlation in Geochemistry (open access)

Semiquantitative Spectrographic Analysis and Rank Correlation in Geochemistry

Abstract: "The rank coefficient, rs, which involves less computation than the product moment correlation coefficient, r, can be used to indicate the degree of relationship between two elements. The method is applicable in situations where the assumptions underlying normal distribution correlation theory may not be satisfied. Semiquantitative spectrographic analyses can be used to calculate rank correlations between elements because the results are already partly ranked in an analytical report."

Sources of the Elements in thh Sandstone-Type Uranium Deposits of the Colorado Plateau

The following report covers a broad-scale study of the distribution of elements in the rocks and ores of the Colorado Plateau. Discussed here are the results from semiquantitative spectrographic analyses of approximately 800 samples of rocks and ores that form the principal starting point for the discussion. This paper examines the relevance of the results of the study of the distribution of elements to the special problem of the source or sources of the elements contained in unusual abundance in the sandstone-type uranium ores.
