Wind Tunnel Standardization Disk Drag
Note presenting the resistances of a series of three similar disks placed normal to the wind as determined in the atmospheric wind tunnel. The curves of drag coefficient plotted against Reynolds number for this tunnel show discrepancies between overlapping values which are to be attributed to the presence of the tunnel walls.

Report on Tests of Metal Model Propellers in Combination With a Model VE-7 Airplane
This report, prepared at the request of the NACA, describes tests of three metal model propellers, in a free air stream and in front of a model of a VE-7 airplane. The effect of introducing the model airplane is shown to be an increase in thrust and power coefficients and efficiency at small slip, and a decrease in the same at large slip.

Test of a Model Propeller With Symmetrical Blade Sections
"This report, prepared at the request of NACA, gives the results of tests on a model propeller having blade sections with form of Gottingen airfoil no. 409. The model is shown to have a dynamic pitch practically equal to the nominal or geometrical pitch, and a somewhat higher efficiency but lower coefficient than would be expected of a propeller of more conventional sections" (p. 1).

Spray penetration with a simple fuel injection nozzle
The purpose of the tests covered by this report was to obtain specific information on the rate of penetration of the spray from a simple injection nozzle, having a single orifice with a diameter of 0.015 inch when injecting into compressed gases. The results have shown that the effects of both chamber and fuel pressures on penetration are so marked that the study of sprays by means of high-speed photography or its equivalent is necessary if the effects are to be appreciated sufficiently to enable rational analysis. It was found for these tests that the negative acceleration of the spray tip is approximately proportional to the 1.5 power of the instantaneous velocity of the spray tip.

Slip Stream Effect
"The horizontal tail surfaces of a new airplane usually are proportional so that the curve of moment about the center of gravity, combined with a similar curve for the wings alone, gives a composite curve which provides a certain specified degree of static stability. With the application of power three additional factors must be considered in calculations: the moment of the propeller thrust; the change in the velocity of the air over the tail due to the slipstream; and the change in direction of the air over the tail due to the slipstream. The last two factors are considered in this report" (p. 1).

Preliminary Wing Model Tests in the Variable Density Wind Tunnel of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics
"This report contains the results of a series of tests with three wing models. By changing the section of one of the models and painting the surface of another, the number of models tested was increased to five. The tests were made in order to obtain some general information on the air forces on wing sections at a high Reynolds number and in particular to make sure that the Reynolds number is really the important factor, and not other things like the roughness of the surface and the sharpness of the trailing edge" (p. 205).

The Variable Density Wind Tunnel of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics
This report contains an exact description of the new wind tunnel of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. This is the first american type wind tunnel. It differs from ordinary wind tunnels by its being surrounded by a strong steel shell, 35 feet long and 15 feet in diameter. A compressor system is provided to fill this shell - and hence the entire wind tunnel - with air compressed to a density up to 25 times the ordinary atmospheric density.

Experiments on Self-Ignition of Liquid Fuels
This report examines the cause and effect of the energy conversion in airless-injection engines. In order to obtain a criterion for the chosen working method, it takes into consideration the time relations between the individual processes. Observations of the engine alone do not suffice to obtain the necessary basis for a critical analysis of the processes.
