The Legin group area comprising nine Government-owned claims, three privately owned claims and adjoining public land, is in San Miguel County, Colo. The area explored includes parts of secs. 28 and 29, T. 43 N., R. 19 W., New Mexico principal meridian (fig. 1).

A report pertaining to an exploration by the U.S. Geologic Survey in the southern part of the Uravan district for uranium-vanadium deposits. The explored area is in Montrose County, Colorado. The rocks exposed in the area are gently dripping marine and terrestial formations ranging in age from late Paleozoic to late Mesozoic.

"Between April 21, 1949, and August 20, 1955, the U.S. Geological Survey explored the southern part of the Uravan district for uranium-vanadium deposits and to appraise the uranium-vanadium reserves in the area."

Abstract: As a part of continuous geologic and geophysical investigations at the Nevada Test Site, gamma-radioactivity measurements are being made in tunnels and drill holes to determine semiquantitatively the natural gamma radioactivity of geologic formations and the distribution of nuclear-explosion-produced radioisotopes.

The following report summarizes the geophysical studies of the rocks made in the U12e.10 tunnel of the Nevada Test Site.

From abstract: Uranium assays of all the samples collected by the Geological Survey from the Chattanooga shale in east-central Tennessee and southern Kentucky from 1947 to 1949 are assembled here, and conclusions are drawn concerning the distribution of the uranium. The 1108 assays from 80 localities provide reasonably reliable information on the stratigraphic and regional variations of the uranium content.

From purpose and scope: The purposes of this investigation are (1) to define the ground-water system in the Arikaree Formation, (2) to determine the hydrologic cause-and-effect relationships resulting from the current ground-water development, and (3) to provide a means of indicating the hydrologic effect of future ground-water development.

This report follows a preliminary geophysical investigation that was made in the Colorado-Utah Plateau in search of carnotite ore deposits.

Abstract: Dissolved-solids concentrations and loads can be estimated from streamflow records using a regression model derived from chemical analyses of monthly samples. The model takes seasonal effects into account by the inclusion of simple-harmonic time functions. Monthly mean dissolved-solids loads simulated for a 6-year period at U.S. Geological Survey water-quality stations in the Green River Basin of Wyoming agree closely with corresponding loads estimated from daily specific-conductance records. In a demonstration of uses of the model, an average gain of 114,000 tons of dissolved solids per year was estimated for 6-year period in a 70-mile reach of the Green River from Fontemelle Reservoir to the town of Green River, including the lower 30-mile reach of the Big Sandy River.

From purpose and scope: The purpose of this part of the Central Valley Aquifer Project is to gather and analyze all available information on the magnitude and distribution of ground-water pumpage in the Central Valley. These data will be used as input to a digital ground-water model, one of the products of the Central Valley Aquifer Project.

From introduction: The purpose of this report is to develop and evaluate a method to automate the constant-rate-injection technique, described by Cobb and Bailey, with sufficient accuracy and reliability to determine discharge in storm sewers under rapidly varying flow conditions.
