Comparison of Cast-in-Place Concrete Versus Precast Concrete Stay-in-Place Forming Systems for Lock Wall Rehabilitation

"The objectives of this report are as follows: (a) To present the design and details utilized on the precast concrete panel rehabilitation at Troy Lock. (b) To compare the results of precast concrete panel rehabilitation with previous cast-in-place repairs, with respect to quality, cost, and schedule. (c) To recommend refinements in the details and methods of fabrication and erection of the precast panels, based on lessons learned from work performed at Troy Lock." (p. 2).

Investigation of the Suitability of Prepakt Concrete for Mass and Reinforced Concrete Structures (open access)

Investigation of the Suitability of Prepakt Concrete for Mass and Reinforced Concrete Structures

The purpose of the investigation reported herein was to develop data on the suitability of Prepakt concrete for mass concrete dams and for reinforced concrete construction. Prepakt concrete is made by packing the forms with coarse aggregate and then pumping in a cement base intrusion mixture (grout) to fill the voids.

Review of Soils Design, Construction, and Prototype Analysis: Blakely Mountain Dam, Arkansas

This report provides a review of the design and performance of the embankment and foundation of Blakely Mountain Dam in Arkansas. "This study is one of a series of similar studies of the foundation and soil mechanics features of earth dams [...] In these studies field experience is analyzed and performance of the completed structures is compared with design predictions to provide information for use in the design and construction of future projects" (p. 1).

Material Property Investigation for Project Middle Gust, Events 1, 2, and 4: Report 1, Subsurface Exploration and Laboratory Test Results

This report documents the results of a site investigation conducted to support free-field ground shock calculations and field operations for Project MIDDLE GUST, Events I, II, and III. The site is characterized by a 6- to 9-ft-thick section of sandy clay (CL) and clayey sand (SC) overburden overlying almost 500 ft of clay shale of the Pierre Formation which overlies older sedimentary rocks. A perched groundwater table in the overburden, approximately 4 ft below the ground surface, is fed by water from the Colorado Canal, which borders the site on three sides.

Identification of Relevant Criteria and Survey of Potential Application Sites for Artificial Habitat Creation (open access)

Identification of Relevant Criteria and Survey of Potential Application Sites for Artificial Habitat Creation

From abstract: "This report develops a process for the selection of areas appropriate for artificial marsh construction using dredged material. By application of the methodology set forth, Engineer District personnel will be able to efficiently identify such areas...The selection rationale is tested in Volume II by the choice and description of 50 prime candidate project areas, 10 within each of five major coastal geographical regions. From this compilation, 10 optimum project areas, two in each geographical region, were selected and described further using data gathered in project areas and from relevant Engineer Districts."
