In a previous report (NP-2010) the authors reported on the heats of solution of the metals and the anhydrous chlorides of the rare earths as well as on the heats of formation of the chlorides. The variation of the heats of solution of the chlorides suggested an investigation of the bromides and the iodides which is reported in this publication.

The authors describe Praseodymium which is a rare earths metal that forms several oxides.

This article describes the process by which praseodymium oxide can be obtained by fractional crystallization rather than by earlier processes used in developing pure praseodymium.

The present knowledge of artificial radio-activity is more spotty for the rare earths than for any other region of the periodic table. The chief reason for this is the difficulty of obtaining sufficiently pure samples or at any rate such of well-known composition. Rare earthers were investigated through the activation by thermal neutrons.

Corresponding investigations were carried out for rare earths. Fractional estimates of intensities and rough values of the activation cross sections with thermal neutrons for all earther are listed.

In this study it will be shown that the size of the molecules of a substance in a non-dissociated dilute solution can be determined from the internal friction between the substance and the solvent and from the diffusion of the dissolved substance, if the volume of a molecule of the substance going into solution is large compared to the volume of a molecule of the solvent. A molecule of the dissolved substance will move in the solvent and will influence the internal friction approximately like a rigid body suspended in the solvent.

A. N. Back expressed a hypothesis about the participation of organic peroxide in the process of photosynthesis. Experimental data on this question were very few. This article provides a method of investigation to support the hypothesis.

In the course of recent years numerous investigations have been made concerning the change in the viscosity of a solvent when colloidal or high molecular substances are brought in solution, and with regard to double refraction of flow, which is observed when a gradient of velocity is produced in such a solution. While in the case of viscosity the results obtained had only limigted validity the oblong shape of colloidal particles is generally deducible from the double refraction of flow. In this paper it will be attempted to make quantitative observations of both phenomena.

This study enabled the author to analyse the operation of the cyclotron in great detail than it is possible by means of the elementary theory. Apart from the numerical results which one obtains and which make possible a predetermination of the characteristics to be used, the precise study of the phenomena which occur in the course of the accelerations helps towards a better physical understanding of these phenomena which is not to be regarded lightly,
