Report issued by the Bureau of Standards over studies on the benefits of computerized record-keeping. Medical records were chosen for the studies, and they also focus on patient privacy and rights. This report includes tables, and illustrations.

Report documenting standard x-ray diffraction powder patterns for various compounds, intended to replace previous data or provide information for new substances. From Abstract: "In the past 60 years considerable data have been accumulated concerning the mechanical properties of copper and its alloys.It was felt that there was great need to adequately document these results in one publication. Therefore a unique type of compilation is presented. The compilation is divided into four parts. The first section is intended for quick reference use for those who are interested in average values. The second section includes data from most of the investigators who have published results on the mechanical properties of copper and its alloys. The third section is composed of tables classifying the investigations which were not in section two. The fourth section section lists, in alphabetical order, all references used."

Report discussing measurements of viscosity made with relative viscometers. These instruments must be calibrated with liquids whose viscosities are known. NBS provides a series of 10 oils for this purpose. Their viscosities range from 0.02 to 450 poises and their temperature coefficients of viscosity range from 2.1 to 9.4 percent per degree C. The less viscous oils are more stable. Correction formulas for errors or conditions are presented.

Report discussing the relationship between quantum field theory and the the statistical theory of waves. Basic equations exist in the latter theory which correspond closely to the fundamental equations of the former theory; i.e., to the commutation relations and the Heisenberg equation of motion. A probability density function of waves is introduced here which corresponds to the probability amplitude function in quantum mechanics. The theory of the statistical Green's functions and their relationships to the expectation values of the physical variables is also extensively developed. It is found that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the formalism of Green's functions presented here and that used in field theory.

Report describing the interferometric measurement process using a laser light source and a Kosters type gage block interferometer. Continuous evaluation and refinement of the process is aided by statistical treatment and control chart techniques. All error sources, both random and systematic, are evaluated and the process is maintained in a state of statistical control.
