Patent for a bridge of "simple and strong construction in metal of very low cost and light weight, using only such materials as are easily available, being also of easy construction and well adapted to resist washouts" (lines 9-13).

Patent for a new and improved boot upper. This design "relates to improvements in boots for use by lumbermen, laborers, miners, and others requiring a stout heavy boot capable of withstanding great strain, water-tight, and durable" (lines 7-11). It "consist[s] of a front and rear section, each of said sections being made in one piece and the edges of the rear section doubled over upon themselves and having their edges secured to the edges of the front section by edge stitches passing through said edges of the front section and said edges of the doubled edges of the rear section" (lines 74-81).

Patent for a new and improved canopy for folding beds. This design "will automatically fold up within the bed when the same is closed, and will similarly open out with the opening of the bed without any other attention than the proper arrangement of the folds of the mosquito or fly netting" (lines 21-25). It consists in "an automatically raising and lowering canopy consisting of a raising-frame having vertical bars pivoted to the bed at the bottom and a horizontal connecting-bar at the top, a canopy-top frame pivoted to the bed-casing, having side bars and a horizontal connecting-bar, and couplings" (lines 13-19).

Patent for a new coupling mechanism that will automatically couple railway cars together without human assistance.

Patent for a new and improved box-fastener. This design "is an improvement in cover-fasteners; and it has for its objects to produce a cover-fastener which will securely fasten the cover to a box, which will be simple, cheap, and effective" (lines 8-12). It consists in "the base-plate provided with a perforation adapted for the reception of a bolt, a movable plate mounted on the base-plate and having a perforation and a slot connected with the same and having its movement limited by guides and provided with an outwardly-turned lug, a bolt provided with a neck, and a gravity locking-pin" (lines 90-98).

Patent for a new and improved grain-conveyer for binders. This design "relates to improvements in reciprocating grain-conveyers for binders and harvesters in which arms fold for the rearward movement of the conveyer and unfold for the forward movement to shift the grain on the platform to the inner inner end or off the inner end of the platform. The objects of the invention are, first, to provide the vertical side arms with extensions hinged to said vertical arms so that the upper ends of said side arms will fold grainward and so that they can be unfolded at the grainward end of the platform" (lines 12-24).

Patent for improvements in raising and lowering mechanism for harvesters that can be raised and/or lowered at both ends simultaneously with power from the drive wheel, while also being cheap, easy to manufacture, and durable.

Patent for a new and improved motor. This design "is to produce a simple, convenient, and efficient foot-power having a single pedal accessible from each side of the motor or a double pedal accessible at the end to an operator facing the machine" (lines 14-19). It consists "of a horizontal rock-shaft extending lengthwise of the machine, a horizontal connecting-piece running diagonally of and rigidly secured to said shaft, a seat for the operator, a pedal rigidly secured to said rock-shaft, said pedal serving as a single or double pedal and so arranged that the operator shall face the device" (lines 94-101).

Patent for a new and improved trace-carrier. This design consists "of a frame having a bar extending thereacross with integral arms at right angles thereto, having outwardly turned sharpened ends to form a means of attachment, and a carrier proper depending from said frame and consisting of an elongated loop and an upper eye having the juncture of the two extended inward to form a projection to narrow the opening between said loop and eye, the parts of said carrier proper being of integral rigid structure" (lines 78-88).

Patent for a new and improved trace-carrier. This design consists in "the combination of a cylindrical body of elongated form and obliquely arranged and having slots in the upper part thereof to form bars, a central top slot between said bars, and a lower bar having a recess therein, an obliquely-inclined spring-latch extending across one of the open ends of said body, the back-band having a strap to pass around said body, and a girth-strap connected to said lower recessed bar" (lines 13-22).

Patent for a new and improved spring-draft attachment. This design "is to do away with the ordinary doubletree . . . which is especially adapted for a two-horse vehicle, which . . . prevents the horses from pulling against one another, [and ] prevents the pole from swaying sidewise" (lines 10-18). It "consist[s] of a frame provided with an eye at one end and with a cross-bar near its center, a draw-bar having one end screw-threaded and provided with an eye at its other end and with a collar at its screw-threaded end, a nut on the draw-bar, and a spring surrounding the draw-bar" (lines 65-71).

Patent for a new and improved puzzle. This design consists in a "trick-puzzle, the same consisting of one false and three true members, each of a stiff wire bent at its center into a loop or ring, with its ends extending therefrom and standing approximately parallel, the bends of the true members being in one direction and of the false member in the opposite direction" (lines 5-12).

Patent for a new and improved stove-flue cleaner. This design "has for its objects, among others, to provide a simple device by which the soot may be removed from the flue and gathered into a receptacle without danger of getting it on the floor" (lines 11-15). It "consist[s] of a vessel with a tube extending therethrough and a handle fitted to slide through said tube and carrying a scraper" (lines 52-55).

Patent for a new and improved sash fastener. This design consists, "with the sliding latch provided with a handle, of a pivoted stop having a portion to engage said handle and a cam portion at its pivot end and an elongated hole in which the pivot works" (lines 18-22).

Patent for a new sash fastener, so that the fastener itself is improved upon by the implimentation of a half-hollow cylindar. "The purpose of this cylinder is more for appearance than any actual service, because when the lock is put on the rail of the sash, as shown in Fig. 1, part of it will be seen through the glass from the outside, and the cylinder can be made ornamental and would look much neater than the lock would without it" (lines 87-89)

Patent for a new and improved railway-tie. This design "is to produce a simple and inexpensive tie which may be easily secured in a road-bed and to which the rails may be solidly and conveniently fastened and which is also adapted to be used in connection with wooden sleepers, being constructed so that it may be easily placed in position between wooden sleepers without tearing up the rails" (lines 9-16).

Patent for a new and improved rock-drill. This design "is to construct a simple and efficient rock-drill in which the forward feeding and rotating of the drill are accomplished automatically" (lines 15-18). It consists in "the drill-rod, a tappet-plate placed loosely on the drill-rod, clutch mechanism connected with the tappet-plate for engaging the drill-rod, a spring for impelling the drill-rod, a cam provided with conical ends for lifting the tappet-plate, and the guide" (lines 20-26).

Patent for "a folding umbrella which may be quickly reduced in size, so that it may be conveniently inserted in a valise, satchel, or other receptacle, and also to construct the umbrella in such a manner that it may be held rigidly in either an open or closed position" (lines 9-15)

Patent for seed cotton receivers so that each gin receives a specific amount of cotton, allowing it to self-regulate.

Patent for a new and improved rein holder. This design consists in "[a] rein-holder made from a piece of spring sheet metal, having a base-plate provided with means for attachment to a flat surface and having projections struck up at each side of the tongue and extending lengthwise the base, and a spring tongue bent upward from the lower end of the plate and normally lying between the line of the projections to hold a rein" (lines 56-64).

Patent for a device that will grind poison to a fine powder, and can mounted on a wagon for distribution onto plants.

Patent for a new and improved quilting-frame for sewing machines. This design consists, "with the track and the carriage consisting of the U-shaped bail formed from a single piece of metal, having the ends bifurcated and provided with grooved wheels" (lines 97-100). It also consists "of the screw-threaded rod having a head at its lower end, passing through an aperture in the bail, the burr or nut consisting of the interiorly-sccrew-threaded collar, with which said rod engages, the beam having an aperture, through which said rod loosely passes, the depending bars, the side bars, and the rollers" (lines 1-8).

Patent for "a motor of cheap and simple construction that may be stopped and started readily, that is automatically governed, that may be operated continuously or without losing time for rewinding or hoisting the weight, and the power of which may be doubled or decreased one-half, as desired, and in accordance with the mechanism to be operated" (lines 10-17).

Patent for a new and improved method of treating mesquite beans. This is a design "whereby they are converted into a healthful easily-digestible article of food . . . or may be infused in liquid for producing a healthful or agreeable drink" (lines 8-13). It consists, "first, in a preliminary drying of the bean as a whole to eradicate moisture; second, breaking the thus-dried bean into short pieces to render it more readily affected by the heat . . . third, roasting the broken particles to render friable or more brittle; fourth, grinding the mass, and fifth, separating the powdered bean and outer pod from the hull" (lines 13-21).
