Patent for a new and improved carriage top. This design consists in "the combination, with a vehicle-seat, a series of top-supporting bows pivoted thereto, and a jointed brace having its lower end pivoted to the seat and its upper end to one of the bows, of a rigid operating-lever having its upper end pivoted to said jointed brace and its lower end adjustably connected with the seat, whereby the position of the lower end of said lever may be varied and the brace and top secured in any desired position" (lines 51-60).

Patent for punches and shears combined to cut metal longitudinally.

Patent for improvements arc lamps that "will be uninfluenced by the jar of the locomotive" (lines 17-19). Consisting of carbon-carriers rotated by clock-train.

Patent for a new and improved animal trap. This design consists in "the combination of the wire frame having the parallel base-arms, the coiled-springs, the upwardly-extending arms, and the downwardly-extending loop, the loop or ring on the bend and engaged portions of said wire, and the trigger-wire having the frontwardly-projecting point engaging said ring" (lines 80-87).

Patent for a new and improved planter. This design "has relation to that class of cotton and corn planters in which are hoppers smaller at their top than at their bottom and hoppers larger at their top than at their bottom, to adapt them for planting cotton-seed and corn, respectively. It is the object of the invention to provide the planter with interchangeable hoppers of the above construction, whereby either can be used upon the same machine, as found desirable, the hopper-seat being especially adapted to receive and hold thereon either one of the hoppers" (lines 12-24).

Patent for a new and improved meat tenderizer. This design consists in "the combination, with the triangular end plates having the bearing-notches, the detachable connecting-bar provided with the threaded ends and shoulders, the thumb-nuts, the smooth rollers, and the coiled springs, of the crank-handle and the [other] roller provided with the teeth having square flat faces and flat sides at right angles to said faces and arranged in aligned longitudinal series and spirally arranged circumferentially, the areas of the teeth being one-fourth of an inch" (lines 7-18).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "consist[s] of a draw-head having a spring-actuated sliding piece projecting into the draw-head, with a shouldered end therein, and a hole adapted to register with the coupling-holes in the draw-head, a coupling-link having yielding slotted pieces pivoted at its ends above slots in the ends of the link, and a coupling-pin with reacting spring mounted in a frame having a winding-drum, and a rope connected with the coupling-pin, the latter projecting through and engaging the sliding piece and link" (lines 76-87).

Patent for a new and improved prop for carriage tops. This design consists in "a prop-joint for vehicles, the combination of the bow, the prop-casting having the circumferential flanges lying against the opposite sides of the bow, and the opposite extension plates lying against and secured by screws to the rear edges of the bow" (lines 70-75).

Patent for a new and improved writing-utensil holder and pin. This design "not only forms a convenient receptacle for a pen or pencil, but . . . it is also adapted for use as an ornamental scarf or breast pin, and to this end the bands may be appropriately shaped to confine a stone or other setting, which can be held from endwise displacement, if necessary, by means of lugs . . . at each end of the bar" (lines 63-71).

Patent for a new and improved hame tug. This design consists in "the carrier . . . adapted for connection with the belly and back bands, constructed with a recess for the spring and provided with guides or ways for the tug-bar, such guides or ways leading forward and back from the spring-recess, whereby the tug-bar may extend entirely through and beyond the opposite ends of the spring-receiving recess, combined with the tug-bar and the spring" (lines 68-77).

Patent for a wagon-bed elevator that "is to provide an elevator for wagon-beds by means of which a single person can raise the bed from the wagon to any desired height and leave it suspended in position where it can be readily lowered upon the wagon again at any time" (p. 2).

Patent for a new and improved windmill. This design consists in "[t]he combination of the horizontal wind-wheel, the semi-cylindrical case partly inclosing the same and independently revoluble, the case having the notches in its upper side, the vane having the shaft or port whose lower end forms the upper pivot for the said case, and the lever having its inner end fast to the vane shaft or port, and adapted to engage the said notches, and thereby cause the case to expose any desired area of the wheel to the wind" (lines 89-99).

Patent for a new and improved safe. This design consists in "a safety treasure-vault for express cars, &c., with the combination of the walls, floor, and roof of the vault constructed of bullet-proof steel plate riveted together at their corners, and the angle-irons to which the walls, floor, and roof are riveted, the bullet-proof steel-plate door, the parcel-delivery window, the combined desk-shelf and bullet-proof shutter, the said vault provided with a port-hole and the bullet-proof plug that stops the port-hole" (lines 21-31).

Patent for a new and improved water cooler. This design consists in "the combination, with an outer casing, a central ice-receptacle having a perforated bottom, a water reservoir surrounding the ice-receptacle, provided with a packing of filtering material in the bottom, of an auxiliary reserve held beneath the ice-receptacle and main reservoir and connected with the latter by a series of tubes, and a tank in the bottom of the casing surrounding said auxiliary reserve adapted to receive the drip from the ice" (lines 85-95).

Patent for a new and improved well drill. This design "consists in a novel construction of a tool for boring or drilling wells, which tool has the drill-bit and the reamer so united as to operate simultaneously, and thus serve the functions of the so-called "Z-bit" and effectually prevent the tool from being thrown laterally out of the line of cutting when striking bowlders; and the invention also consists in an improved construction of the coupling of the tool to the sinker-bar or drill-bar" (lines 9-18).

Patent for a new and improved sulky cultivator. This design consists in "the beam having the cross-bar at its rear end, and the rearward-diverging brace-arms connecting the beam to the ends of the cross-bar, the links hinged to the rear ends of the brace-arms and pivoted to the sulky-frame, the hand lever fulcrumed on the frame, and the rod connecting the hand-lever to the front end of the beam" (lines 40-48).

Patent for use the liquid preparation is applied to the head once a day why the scalp is thoroughly irrigated, and the after once or twice a week. By its use the hair will be prevented from falling out as often occurs after fevers, and when the foilices are not dead a new growth of hair will be formed on bald heads.[20]

Patent for "a simple and effective machine of the character described, which shall possess advantages in point of durability, cheapness of manufacture, and general efficiency" (lines 18-21).

Patent for a new and improved file case. This design "[t]he combination, with a case, of the pockets constructed in a series of a single piece of material having partitions formed by long folds connected at the bottom by short folds . . . [and t]he combination, with the folded pockets, of the file case having its sides constructed to overlap a part of the ends of the pockets, and an elastic follower with thumb-pieces arranged to bind with the sides of the case by straightening" (lines 9-24).

Patent for a new and improved door check. This design consists in "the combination, with a wheel provided with annular offsets and journaled in a movable bearing, the brake, and the spring, of the sheath provided with vertical grooves for the U-shaped bearing" (lines 54-58).
