Patent for a new and improved churn. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the driving devices and the pivoted dasher-operating lever, of the fly-wheel provided with a series of holes each of square contour throughout the greater part of its length, the wrist-pin shaped to fit in any one of said holes, the cap pivoted on the rear side of the fly-wheel and adapted to cover any one of the holes in which the pin may be placed, and the pitman attached to the wrist-pin and connecting the same with the pivoted lever" (lines 70-80).

This design consists "[i]n a corn and cotton planter, a hinged hopper provided with a removable partition and an agitator connected at one end to a longitudinal brace on said hopper, in combination with a platform rabbeted, as shown, and formed with slots, disks working in the slots, one of which is provided with pins to operate the agitator and the other disk having pockets" (lines 4-12).

This design "is to provide an improved barrel rack or truck which can be conveniently and easily loaded and transported from place to place; to provide means for assisting in loading the barrel or receptacle on the truck and for retaining the same on the truck against danger of accidental displacement while the truck and its contents are being moved or transported, and to provide an improved truck which shall be very simple, strong, and durable in construction, thoroughly effective in operation, and cheap and inexpensive of manufacture" (lines 14-26).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad-cars. This design consists in "an ordinary draw-head provided with the usual pin-and-link coupling [that] can be readily and cheaply adapted for use as an automatic coupling. The invention consists in the combination, with a slotted draw-head and a coupling-pin swinging therein and provided with pivotal supports or trunnions, of a vertically-projecting and axially-rotatable guide loop or staple arranged on each side of the pin-slot and adapted to hold the pin from being jolted out of the draw-head, and to permit its withdrawal" (lines 9-20).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "[t]he combination . . . of the laterally and vertically movable draw-head having the hook at its outer end, the keeper depending from the lower side of the car, and in which the draw-head is confined, the spring connected to one side of the draw-head and bearing thereon, and the arm pivoted in a slot in the draw-head, and having the head projecting in rear of the lip or shoulder of the hook, and the lever fulcrumed to the end of the car and connected to the car" (lines 87-97).

This design consists in "[t]he combination of the supporting frame, a shaft journaled in the frame, a crank for rotating the shaft and carried by the frame, and a screw-conveyer carried by the shaft and having the smaller blades and the larger blade arranged above the [smaller] blades, and bearing against the funnel above the conducting tube thereof when the device is adjusted in the funnel" (lines 52-60).

Anti-Friction Wagon Slide.

Patent for a new and improved anti-friction wagon slide. This design "consists of flat side pieces provided with bolt-holes near their ends, and connected to diametrically-opposite points of nearly-cylindrical end pieces, which have holes through their axes for the reception of the roller-shaft. The recess is so formed that the lower portion of the end pieces shall bear against its ends when the frame is put in place. This arrangement, together with the bolts through the corners of the frame and the coupling-tongue, prevents any tendency of the frame to displacement" (lines 42-54).

Patent for a new and improved leaf-turner for sheet music. This design consists "of a rack having attached guides, the horizontally-slidable rods arranged in said guides, one above the other, the leaf-turning fingers carried by one end of said rods, the elastic cords connected with the other ends of said rods for retracting the fingers, devices for holding the rods against the tension of the cords, and a finger-piece for successively disengaging said holding devices" (lines 56-64).

Patent for a new and improved lock-box. This design "is provided with means for giving an alarm when an attempt is made to enter the same; and it also has a device for clamping it to the berth or other part of the apartment in which the traveler lodges, so that when the alarm sounds he [or she] is awakened, and thus notified at an attempt at robbery. The device is especially adapted to be clamped to the inner-face of a bed-rail, adjacent to the mattress thereof, so that it cannot be reached without awakening the traveler" (lines 21-31).

This design "provide[s] a flexible or elastic seat, consisting of a number of thicknesses of tanned sheepskin, with the wool on, between the saddle-tree covering and the ordinary external rawhide or other covering, thus preventing the said covering from resting on the inner edges of the saddle-tree side bars, which forms a comfortable and easy saddle; and, in addition to this, [the] invention relates to the opening rearwardly and laterally in the saddle-tree for attaching the girth-rigging thereto, in place of the ordinary rings" (lines 30-41).
