Patent for a new and improved bale-band replacer and tightener. This design "provide[s] a simple and convenient device for replacing a broken bale-bind, for tightening the band around the bale, and for drawing the ends together, so as to provide the necessary slack for slipping the loop out of the tie when it is desired to remove a band" (lines 13-19).

Patent for a new and improved combined hook and buckle. This design "is especially adapted for use upon the back-bands, whether of leather or canvas, of harnesses, and for receiving and holding the leather trace or trace-chains of the harness; but it may be attached to various other parts of the harness, and used for various other purposes. The buckle part of the device is composed of a suitable frame . . . and a bar formed or provided with points or small tongues for holding the strap or canvas adapted to slide in the frame" (lines 9-21).

Patent for a new and improved device for converting reciprocating into rotary motion. This design "has for its object to provide means whereby rotary motion may be converted into reciprocating motion or reciprocating motion into rotary motion without the intervention of cranks; and to this end it consists in a mutilated gear pinion secured to a rotating shaft and provided with suitable cams, whereby the gear-teeth upon the pinion are caused to engage with gear-teeth upon a yoke embracing said pinion" (lines 23-32).

Patent for a new and improved bag holder. This design "consists mainly in the combination of certain parts having a capacity for adjustment relatively to the diameter of the bag, with certain parts having a capacity for adjustment relatively to the height of the bag" (lines 17-22).

Patent for a new and improved cotton gin. This design "consists in the combination of the bevel-edged boards with the saws and brush, so as to facilitate the transfer of the cotton from the saws to the arc-shaped support consisting of the bevel-edged boards set at a short distance apart, and to thus straighten the fiber or lint. This gives the lint cotton a finer and lighter appearance, causing a ready allowance of a considerable addition to the usual price" (lines 8-17).

Patent for a compound for destroying weevils, rats and mice.

Patent for a new and improved insect trap. This design "relates to certain new and useful improvements in devices for distributing liquid poison on cotton and other plants to destroy insect life thereon; and it consists in the [novel] construction and arrangement of parts" (lines 14-18).

Patent for a new and improved holder for plaques and pictures. This design "is to provide a simple and cheap device for conveniently hanging painted or ornamental plaques, plates, tiles, and similar decorative objects" (lines 15-18).

Patent for a new and improved snow plow. This design "is to facilitate the removal of snow from railway-tracks, and also to prevent the removed snow from being blown back upon the track" (lines 20-23).

Patent for a new and improved head protector. This design utilizes a wire "skeleton mask" and corresponding cap that holds the former in place. These are "designed to be covered with netting and to be worn as a protection against mosquitoes and other poisonous insects, and which is also applicable to bee-keepers' use, thrashers, gunners, railroad brakemen, &c." (lines 14-19).

Patent for a new and improved rein-holder. This design "consists of two cuneiform sleeves mounted loosely and eccentrically on two upright shafts inclined toward each other and provided with spiraled grooves, into which pins in the sleeves pass, these sleeves being provided at the bottom with plates engaging with each other, so that both sleeves will move simultaneously, the reins being grasped between these sleeves" (lines 10-18).

Patent for a new and improved fifth wheel for vehicles. This design "consists of improvements in the construction and arrangement of the fifth-wheel apparatus of carriages, the object of which is to enable the parts to be made more cheaply, also to be more readily removable, and also to be more durable in use than as such apparatus is now made" (lines 7-13).

Patent for an improvement in saddle trees

Patent for a new and improved rail joint for railroads. This design "relates to railroad-rail joints; and it has for its object to construct, without the use of bolts, nuts, and fish-plates, a joint which shall be cheap, durable, and possessed of great strength and rigidity" (lines 19-23).
