Introduction: This preliminary report is an attempt to correlate all of the available information having a bearing on the geology of the uraniferous deposits and to set forth such theories and recommendations as may be deduced at this stage.

From major objective: The over-all aim of the study has been to obtain a thorough geologic picture of the Chattanooga shale in the area under consideration, with emphasis upon stratigraphic relationships and associated special problems from which, in turn, implications may be obtained as to the origin and age of the formation and possibly the source of the uranium. The study has not been aimed primarily at exploration for uranium and its economic aspects.

Introduction: The purpose of this project was to: (1) investigate the applicability of hydrogrochemical techniques to uranium exploration in the Stanley area; and (2) make a hydrogeochemical reconnaissance survey of the Basin Creek mining district and surrounding area as a step toward evaluation of the uranium potential.

A digital computer program for calculating least-squares solutions and making analyses of variance of sets of overdetermined linear equations is described. The entire code is reproduced with sufficient description of the program to enable anyone familiar with the Electrodata Datatron Computer to use it for similar problems.

"A series of glass compositions containing uranium oxide was investigated to determine fiberizability and physical properties of resultant fibers. The basic properties to be determined were the maximum U/sub 3/O/sub 8/ content in a fiberizable glass and the maximum service temperature of the fibers. Glasses containing 60 wt% U/sub 3/O/sib 8/ were fiberizable; the fibers had strengths of 100,000 psi at 1600 deg F. Fiber-forming equipment was installed at Moun Laboratory to produce glass fibers containing PuO/sub 2/. Fibers were successfully formed in the first trials. For additional work a series of base glasses were provided affording a wider range of both PuO/sub 2/ solubility and physical properties."

From abstract: Results of a reconnaissance geochemical survey of the Grand Island Quadrangle, Nebraska; Kansas are reported. Statistical data and areal distributions for uranium and uranium-related variables are presented for 564 groundwater and 532 stream sediment samples. Also included is a brief discussion on location and geologic setting.
